are they any good? i read a nice review of antics and it
got me intrigued...i don't think i've seen them being
mentioned here, and they're apperantly quite well known..

Their first album, Turn On the Bright Lights, is
quite awesome. I still haven't heard Antics.

i'm not a fan. they're music is just blah and they seem like
a band that is part of a scene and has an image but totally
uninteresting music. one of the reasons i don't listen to
rock.

I've got both antics and turn on the bright ligths. turn on
the bright ligths is better imo. my favourite from antics is
"take you on a cruise". i like most of the songs from turn
on the bright lights.

Yeah Interpol aren't really part of that gay new rock scene
despite being boned by the NME. They are decent. The lead
singer's a fan of Boards of Canada so they are clearly
fantastic...? The first album is better although Im enjoying
the new one at the moment also.

i think Antics is better than Turn on the bright lights...
mainly due to amazing tracks like "Narc" and "Length Of
Love"... but i love em... they are completely super rad x.

i like Turn on the Bright Lights... Antics is okay, but i
don't think it's worth all the attention it's been
getting... it almost seems like a lot of the indymedia is
too lazy to put effort into pushing a better band who they
haven't built up already or something...

i think my favourite interpol song is the opening track to
Turn On the Bright Lights

I was on a tangent about new rock music. It seemed that
everything was manufactured. There is hardly ever anyone
ugly in bands anymore and that's not natural. Most popular
music is pretty vapid now, BUT I will look over everything
and believe in you when you make awesome music. Interpol are
fucking great.

electronic music is manufactured shit as much as rock. that
doesn't mean you should ignore the best artists from each
genre.

package. More now than ever I'd say. Not Interpol. I want to

Do you know how massive the music industry machine is now?
They realized payola wasn't good enough. Instead of paying
off the station, why not just buy the station. You wanna be
a pepper too?

Interpol is NOT the best that rock has to offer... they are
certainly decent but i really don't think the rock vs.
electronic polemics at all apply here...

well i just got back from the show. It was really fucking
good. the sound in the place was a bit boomy. but they put
on a good set. they played songs off of both albums,
favoring the more recent album, antics.

it wasn't too loud so you could appreciate all the
subtleties and my ears aren't ringing.

i don't know song titles but these are some of the tracks
they played:

the first track off of antics with the organ

the song about the 200 couches

the song with the lyric 'turn on the bright lights'

the song that starts out "Rosemary, heaven restores you in
light" or "life" or whatever.

the song with the lyric "touch your thighs you're the lonely
one"

that song that's like 'we spies, we slowhands' i think it's
called slowhands actually.

anyway, they were all recognizable tunes, nothing i hadn't
heard and i've only listened to the two albums. a bit of
improv so it was still pretty raw, not like one of those
shows where it sounds just like the CD.
the bassist looks like george McFly from back to the
future.

i'm a bit drunk so if this is all nonsense, me be sorry
folks so fuck yourselves fuckers. this guy right here? THIS
GUY! he is a great man, best guy ever, never let me down you
fuckers.

opinions. i might go out and actually buy their first album
now, you bastard.

yeah, pretty much. i'm not going to declare they're the best
thing to happen to rock music or something, but they make
pretty good music. it seemed like it all sounded like the
same derivative crap, but now i like it, even if that still
remains true.

I had one of those musical epiphany things with Interpol...
when you listen and it just absolutely floors you completely
and life seems beautiful. Only a few times its happened to
me but seriously, a couple of years back, walking through
the snow after school on my won with PDA on... the saddest
fucking sound in the world. The 'youre so cute when you're
sedated' bit has such a sad synth/guitar harmony.

Don't get the same buzz from them now obviously but they
still rock. The new album is good but I don't think I'll get
a feeling like I did the first time I heard them live again.
Saw them for the 3rd time just before Christmas, very cool
:D

The first album 'Turn on the Bright Light's is very good. I
got into it recently. The singer sounds a bit like Ian
Curtis (Joy Division).

They sound nothing like REM, however Antics is shit.
