Even though I live in the Uk and it's an amerrican holiday,
Chrristmas even though it's no longerr about Christ, Easterr
even though we as a family don't make much of a big deal out
of it... all of them... I love them all. I can't wait to get
my pumpkin.

yeah, i know exactly what you mean. to me, these holidays
never really held importance in the way they were meant to,
but there's a strong nostalgia or some sort of strong
feeling attached to them.

i don't get dressed up for halloween, but i do have a nice
pumpkin outside this year. :)

Put an upended, empty bottle of cheap whisky next to it. And
post pics. This is important.

Also: there's a shop in town called "the halloween store".
It opened in july.

Yeah, I like Halloween. I like the people that really dress
up their houses nice and elaborate like, graves and dummies
and skeletons and orange lights and scary music. I don't
like the brats that get drunk in the woods behind my house.
They're MY woods. Maybe this time I'll do something about
it, something bloody.

Christmas for me is the best antidepressant possible.

I got my costume out yesterday. Ive been the same thing for
the past 6 years. I sewed some old ermine and fox and mink
stoles to a sweatshirt that I had painted blood and tire
tracks on so naturally Im roadkill- its a big hit with the
vegetarian crowd- clever me.

I love Halloween. I like to watch, as a tradition, Halloween
3, which gets better on every viewing despite having nothing
to do with the first two Halloween films. I'm saving Onibaba
which I just got on DVD to watch too. And I might drink a
Bloody Mary or 12, depending on how much celery we've got
in.

Is halloween 3 the one with that fucking weird song, "(n)
more days til halloween, halloween, halloween"? If so, i
love that film. It's rubbish but truly great.

That's the one "Three more days to Halloween, Silver
Shamorck" then the computer proto-IDM noise that goes
"Do-de-do-de-do-de-do-de-do-de-do-de-... " Excellent. The
ends a bit overblown but otherwise, some lovely touches.

probably because it's just not part of our culture, but yet
another overly American thing that shops are trying to
inject in the name of commerce.

Here's a quiz and I'll willingly offer up my ignorance. We
often say "oh it's an american import", which fair enough,
like obesity and talking loudly, it is. But what's its
origin in America?

All hallows Eve.

A thinly veiled attempt by the catholic church to supplant
the winter solstice

Yes, and I have the soundtrack Alex (as well as the film
itself on VHS - a truly under-rated film!)

btw, Halloween is great - I played Pumpkin Bowling last
night at Tesco's until my gf threatened to hit me if I
didn't stop rolling a pumpkin along the aisles... :D
