I just can't get enough of this tune of late. It's so
fucking fantastically great. That build around the 15 minute
mark is one of those rare musical moments that makes my skin
tingle. FUCK THEY;RE GOOD YO!

At this moment in time I'm inclined to agree.

I love the last bits of this song more. The 'where are you
going?' vocal loop is just so sad. And into that ambient
bit... 'tape loop manufactured during downpour' or what
ever. Its beautiful BEAUTIFUL LIKE SCARLETT JOHANNSON but
like a sad Scarlett Johannson about who has just realised
the futility of living.

Its actually scary looking back, seriously. There was a
point a year or two ago where I WORSHIPPED this band. I
remember thinking that if I had faith in anything it was in
Godspeed. Its quite worrying looking back :s

that "where are you going" bit is one of my favorite pieces
of music, ever. reminds me of the countryside south of where
i used to live, with all these abandoned train lines and
ghost towns in the middle of the mountains. great track.

i'd recommend chronological order:
F#A#infinity
slow riot EP
lift your skinny fists....
the last album isn't that great

Lift your skinny fists is amazing.

The first disc is incredible.

Storm and static.

Yanqui UXO just doesn't have 'it'. Apart from the last
track, that's pretty trippy

I like moya from the slow riot ep a lot, i think it's one of
their best. I really like all their stuff, They're parts on
skinny fists which surpass f#A#infinity but overall I
thought the first was better. I never got around to buying
yanquo.

Yanqui U.X.O. was the epitome of disappointing :(

Yes, GY!BE are best in chronological order. Slow riot EP is
my favourite. And yes, Yanqui UXO was a bit wank if you ask
me.

I only have the early version of of f#a#infinity which is
apparently partially the same as the other version, but all
the track names are different and there are six of them so I
dunno if it's the same or not.

the end of that piece of pretty creepy. it used to wake me
up whenever i was sleeping with music on.

is that the one with the really weird buzzing noises that
come in late in the song? if so, i once slept with that on,
woke up, and freaked the fuck out.

yep, that's the one. i could never figure out what
instrument that was. the first time i heard it i thought it
was screaming.

it sounds like bees almost, but then it gets so alien. i
almost always have to turn that off, it just unsettles me.

i made a mix tape once:
side one: joy division - new dawn fades, slint - washer, the
cure - 100 years, for carnation - emp mans blues

side two: mogwai - tracy, mogwai - summer, gybe - east
hastings

now that was a great mix tape

great music : )

DJ Xammax: download the full album... the division of it
into three "tracks" doesn't make much sense (except that
each track is a side of the LP, or so i've been told) since
each of the three tracks contains already several ones...

I'm not saying anything about GYBE! but I can't listen to
them anymorre. I get irrrritable and I starrt to hold my
brreath :S and can't catch it. It's similarr to when someone
is annoying you but you can't speak out because they arre
yourr boss orr something. It's totally stupid.

No they haven't split...

However, Roger left the group to focus on Fly Pan Am. There
were also rumors about Norsola and Dave leaving, but those
might be crazy rumors.

In the interview where Roger said he was leaving, he also
said that some of the remaining members really wanted to
continue. And, if they needed, I don't think they would have
trouble recruiting people for an album. Or maybe they will
just have less people and experiment with that.

Also, Ian from Constellation records REALLY REALLY wants the
band to record Albanian at some point. So that's a good
sign.

Plus I think Gamelan and Albanian are two of the best pieces
they've ever done.

(If it isn't too obvious, I think that Constellation records
is putting out the most passionate, wonderful music on the
face of the planet right now. :) And I don't expect them to
stop any time soon.)

At the same time... who really knows what gy!be's plans are.
They've already been on "hiatus" for over a year... :(

them sooner!

I have it as an MP3 but I'm sorting out Slsk on my system.
It's just not stable on this one :(
