idm fans can't dance??

there are some that can, but usually they just stand there
and observe. eventhough the artist is playing the most
dancable music possible...wtf do they attend gigs at
all...instead they could leave more space to people who want
to get crazy to the music.

it's funny how techno/house fans always dance to that
repetitive 4/4 rhythm (nothing wrong with it, but it's just
not as dancable as drum n bass, gabber, speedcore...).

so um learn how to move!

i think 95% of all dancing looks pretty silly.

I don't dance but I know how you feel. If I knew what the
fuck to do chances are I'd go nuts... but what the fuck
should I care anyway, I've never been to a gig.

As much as it pains me to say it, live and let live etc, it
really fucking annoys me when people don't dance at gigs. If
you just want to listen and nod along, buy the record, not
tickets to a concert. Leave the floor free for inebriated
wazz-dancers like myself.

always great to watch those nutters!!! :)

xammax...if you knew what to do? you just feel it and start
moving...it's almost impossible to just stand still imo.

humiliate myself. How do you dance?

there are many people who can't dance, let them enjoy their
silly moves. it's funnier to watch them, compared to
Siscqó's Shakedown type people who do their stupid-ass
Britney routine, and think they are like superdancers or
something.

and since i have dropped dancing altogether, i'll be by the
bar getting pissed and laughing a all the silly people

what's even more laughable; when a dj plays some breakbeat
stuff, and moves on to a track with a standard 4/4 bassdrum,
everybody cheers - what the hell, it's just a beat!

i don't dance really...i just close my eyes and start moving
shaking jumping...if no one else is dancing i just need a
smoke and i can start up alone if necessary.

Most people at IDM gigs are wankered anyway in my
experience... nobody seems like they're judging anyone
else's dancing. Just don't throw up on the decks and there
won't a shred of humiliation in sight.

it's a funny moment when you overcome shyness and start
moving. that letting-loose feeling is awsome

i'll do the c/pach dance now

hmm...italians stand still no matter what djs play...and its
always great to see someone feeling the music properly and
just seeing them get into the proper mood...if you can feel
the music there's no way you can look bad at dancing. im
going to see merzbow this sunday - i wonder if someone will
move to that...ive seen russel haswell couple of years ago,
and there was this guy totally feeling it and was
dancing/moving real good...as hard as might be to dance to
noise (almost no rhythm) there's always a way :)

look back and see people just standing there. ahh

well, aphex is just standing there as well...it's all about
the music..although merzbow could be a bit of a problem in
that respect :)
anyway im most likely going to see ceephax in couple of
days, that should be easier to move to...although i fell off
the bike earlier today and my knee is starting to hurt real
bad...it may happen that this time ill just stand there :)

haha. i remember when merzbow/russel haswell and aphex
played in Norway last year, i saw a couple of people
headnodding during the satanstornade section. i was like:
hey where's the beat they're nodding to?!

I dance whenever I get the chance to. And I always dance
sober.

When I saw Autechre in London three years ago I danced my
arse off, to Team Doyobi as well as Autechre. The night
after that, we went to Nesh and danced our arses off to
Prefuse 73, Phoenecia and Richard Devine. That was a good
weekend.

I think the whole energy would be lifted if the actual
musicians were moving or "playing" in some way, other than
just their hands on buttons. Many people do not move in all
types of music concerts...It seems like in addition to
shyness it is also so they can give the music and musician's
performance their complete attention. But with "idm" there
isn't much, if any, entertaining musicianship, so I can see
where dancing might be more appropriate and intregal, since
you aren't missing much other than somone standing
practically still, fiddling with knobs and buttons. But
still, the music is usually more complex than the average
"boogie-down" type of music. It usually requires more
attention, and if the listeners are big fans they will
usually want to notice the subtle differences between the
regular album version that they know and love, and the live
rendition.
That's an important part of the experience. If the songs
were exactly the same as on the album, then they might as
well play their cd and pretend to be "adjusting" things on
the fly. If that's the case, then the only thing that is
special about the occasion is all the drunk fans
moving/dancing/standing in unison, and the fact that the
musician is standing there as well.
I don't know where I was trying to go with this.

i only bring my body to a show because it's attached to my
ears. i don't care about lights, or whether or not the
performer wiggles around the stage. fog is always a plus,
though. but i'd prefer a nice rocking chair for almost any
show...

there's difference between 'listening' and 'dancing'
music...idm artists usually (from my experience) play
dancing music...sometimes not, but im not bothered with ppl
not dancing then. it only bothers me when they play music to
shake to and everyone is standing still.

I always dance, and it seems like everyone else dances too
at IDM gigs. I used to only dance to certain stuff but
lately I just dance to anything as long as the mix is nice
and there is a crowd going; the worst thing is when the DJ
is fucking up the rhythm too much, it's a thin line. Even
though I love dancing to drum & bass I can't stand it
sometimes when they do fucking rewinds because it kills the
atmosphere most of the time. That's the beauty of psytrance
raves because you can dance for hours and not even notice
the track has changed. If I've had a couple of beers or
joints I can get into it quicker but it's not vital.

But anyway I love a good rave up and I probably can't dance
but try and stop me you bastards

b) there are girls around.
c) (RARE) they like dancing

most men don't like dancing
