so, i looked at some autechre pictures lately that show
what stuff they used autechre

so, i checked the alesis mmt-8 and read a bit, but what the
fuck is this stuff ?

i'm creating music on my pc for some time now, and i thought
that maybe some hardware stuff would better up my music.

but what should i choose ? i would want to hear some
opinions of you, as i saw that few of you have already some
hardware stuff...

also, is there any site that can answer my questions like -
what is the alesis mmt-8 for, how does it work, how do other
hardware things work...

or maybe you can tell me something ??

this thread is for everything about it, discuss !!

Also: you don't make better music by spending money on
expensive hardware, just because autechre use it.

oh come on.... i didn't mean it that way.
i just thought that with hardware my music creation could
get more interesting, i could get more room for tewaking !

also - that would be much more interesting for live sets...

that's why i think about hardware

Gahhh, i suppose i may have been rather harsh. I'm always
suspicious of people buying hardware to improve their music,
but i guess new pieces of equipment can spark new ideas and
new ways of working. I hope you're not investigating it just
because the ae boys use it though, heh.

Punching someone in the face results in many enjoyable
noises. If you got a lot of people on stage and beat the
shit out of them, I'd listen raptly. Also, I figure most
people are worthless, so this wouldn't put you back much
cash.

That argument about gear not making you better is retarded.
Maybe the right gear will help you get your ideas out
better. Maybe your work flow will be smoother and more fun.
Who knows. That argument just assumes everyone sucks.

gear matters, but not as much as ideas. i know a gyu who
made a kickass tracks with a microphone, a toy synth and a
radio...

Oh, and I've met autechre back stage, once. Tripped over the
very gear in those pics.

Right, that microphone, a toy synth and a
radio are good gear for him. Maybe he would suck with
something like max/msp. Or atleast never get anything done.
The right gear for the right person can be great.

fuck, never new i would start such a storm :D

i was just curious about it. i want to look at different
things, maybe i find something for me.

the ideal hing for me would be a neat analog synth. hardware
synth have a much clearer sound and the tweaking is more
easy !!
