Here Firefox 1.0 should be here next week! Can't wait... I'm using Mozilla 1.7.3, I guess it's the heavyweight version of Firefox, you could say.
The only thing I have any qualms about with Moz. is the slower-ness than IE (Startup, displaying certain pages incorrectly, and certain msg. board thread pages *cough* XLT *cough*)
It seriously almost locks up / brings to a crawl whatever else is going on when I try and switch pages on XLT. Oh well...

i have my doubts as to whether 1.0 will be released within a week, or a month for that matter. i think they're working out bugs with the PR release that'll take longer than that to iron out. personally, i hope the work with it as long as they need to release a really solid browser. time's getting tight... they've got around a year and a half (at best guess) to get the jump on longhorn, and they'll need every bit of that.
as far as slow page loads, that's wierd; firefox is faster than IE on just about every page i go to... maybe you should try deleting your profile folder and letting mozilla create a fresh new one for you. starting with a fresh one may solve some of those problems, i think corupted profiles can cause wierd issues.

That might do it. I haven't created any profiles, I always use the default one because nobody else uses my PC.
So exactly what folder would I delete? Also, I can't find where to delete old Themes that are still in the menu I don't want. They really need a Theme uninstaller / deleter.
So what does Longhorn have to do with Mozilla... is M$ releasing a Mozilla-killa? :D

internet explorer is the mozilla killer. new version of windows = new version of IE. but, as long as microsoft leaves IE out to dry moz may have a chance to steal userbase by offering a better product.
I don't have mozilla full installed on my home machine, but i believe the profile folder is something like:
\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\

i'm not sure about mozilla full, but firefox got better about the way it dealt with themes around 0.9 i think.

oops, that should be:
\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\[some crazy mismash]
just rename the folder (maybe add "_old" to the end or something), and restart mozilla... it should create a fresh new one, then you can just move plugins and bookmarks over from the old one.

OK, I just created a new profile... it worked, thanks a million.
Everything is much faster now, like it should be. It was a bitch importing my bookmarks. The "Personal Toolbar" folder didn't want to be deleted, after it didn't want to take the old bookmarks from the expoted "Personal Toolbar" folder. I had to coax it, can't remember how now.
Now I can't get the userChrome.css customs to work that I just added... crap.
I guess I'll delete the old "jbr7q8mz" folder now. Sounds like an AFX track title....

.... n/m on the deleting folder thing. Tonight's just not my night, at all, for working on Moz. I just deleted the "default" profile and rebuilt it through the wizard.
Thanks again

yeah, for some reason mozilla just won't let you delete the 'personal toolbar' folder out of bookmarks. so, when you import a new one you have to manually copy from the new (imported) 'personal toolbar' folder into the original, then delete the old one... it's a real pain in the ass. they should improve that. doesn't seem like it would be too hard.
so then, it worked for you? that's awesome! there oughta be a "Repair Profile" button in the browser, because it seems like these sorts of problems pop up for a lot of people, and it's a really awkward procedure to fix it.

Ben Goodger, the head developer for Firefox recently revised the release date. Looks like 1.0 is expected sometime around Nov. 9th.
I've just updated the Firefox Roadmap again - outlining what we think are roughly the release dates. They are, if you don't feel like clicking: 10/18 for RC1, 10/25 for an optional RC2 if needed, and 11/9 for final.
