Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits.
They just look so cheerful and scraggily.
And what the hell is that metallic thing that Paul is
holding onto?

Tool - Lateralus, if the transparent layered artwork counts
as cover! : )

if not.. one of my favourites would be Feather Float by
OOIOO (happy colourful psychedelic joy!!!).... another one
Ukiyo by Aube & Die Form..... Thirteenth Step by A
Perfect Circle..... Pulse Demon by Merzbow (original is
silver, not white, or so i've read -i've never actually seen
it in the physical world of reality).... &lotsofothers;

I've been a fan of the insides of pianos for ages so clearly
Drukqs is a good choice. Sgt Peppers is an obvious classic.
I also like The Private Press a lot.

Hmmmm.... When I was a kid I would have to pick Iron
Maiden's "Caught Somewhere in Time "maybe.

but seriously, you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, the
same applies to album covers, i tend to not even look at the
cover much until i have thoroughly listened to the music
contained inside, and by that time i will probably like it
so much that i would even care if it had a shitty cover

i would have to agree with most of uzim's fav album covers
because many of them are my fav too. Other favs of mine are
also:
moby - moby
yasunori mitsuda and the millenial fair - creid
portishead - dummy
bladrunner (original painting for soundtrack)

Yes I agree. The cover has about as much relevance to the
music as the glass frame that holds a painting.

maybe it's not relevant to the music itself, but it sure is
to the whole experience of an album.

mercury program - from the vapor of gasoline
shipping news - save everything//actually, the booklet is...
dictaphone - m=addiction

a cover certainly doesn't have to be significant, but it
certainly adds to the experience if it is...

no, a good (or at least acceptable) cover art is important
for me. a CD is not *just* music to me, cover art is a part
of it.... (besides, you pay for it)

the last day i came to the fnac (record, book, video game
etc. chain store) and saw "Bleed Your Cedar" by Elysian
Fields, i really wanted to buy it because i have and love
"Queen Of The Meadow" by the same band, but i bought some
other CDs instead because of the cover art...

well, if no one buys it within next week i probably will buy
it anyway, but still. : |

My favorite is an obscure art-pop album from an underground
British group, it's called Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club
Band. Look it up on google image search.

I also love covers that depict everyday things, with
realistic colors. Abbey Road, shit like that. And Fairport
Convention- Unhalfbricking.

who have heard nearly every album he's ever made... and
everytime i turn around... i find out about someone else who
is a jandek fan...

mashnote > judging from the little i've heard....

sounds like an insane man plinking a guitar and singing, all
alone, sounding out of tune, desperate without the normal
song structure". very weird. and scary. you know those kind
of dreams that are like reality but distorted in a fucked up
and unsettling way? well, if my impressions confirm jandek
would be to "normal" music with guitars and singing what
this kind of dream is to reality. sounds wrong but somehow
attractive in a very weird way. scary.
