i was wondering if anyone has had recent problems with this
us based music company. i've ordered from them for years,
and it seems that the service is increasingly hit or miss.
they used to ship an order in maybe four or five days at the
most; this time i've been waiting for a week and a half, no
feedback, no information, and no response to my email
inquiry (polite, not of the "where the fuck's my order"
type). i know many people (myself included) have held them
in high regard; any feedback?

They often don't have older catalog stuff in stock. If I'm
ordering any of that, I'll always give a substitution or
tell them not to wait to restock. Apart from that I've never
had a problem with them.

if some items aren't in stock and you don't choose the
option to disregard items that aren't in stock, then i
believe it takes a bit.

once i discovered this i've had no problems, and get what
they have available within a week of ordering.

the problem is, they don't give you any feedback at all.
they don't tell you what's up with your order in the first
place, and they ignore inquiries. i don't mind waiting so
much, but i'd like to know what i'm waiting for. some items
i might want to cancel, but others i might be more willing
to wait for. i also want to keep postage costs down; i'd
rather pay $4.50 for one large order than $13.50 for three
small orders.

of course, their appeal is their huge and varied catalog.

tomorrow is two weeks since i placed the order and no
response from them at all except the initial automated
email.

i've also tried othermusic, which was ok. any other
recommended u.s. sources for all sorts of weird stuff?

well... i know of one very cool very specialized
distributor....here

but honestly, i'd stick with forced... i don't think anyone
in north america can match them for selection...
