As in, the christian faith. Not to start one of those "I hate religion" thread (sweet jesus h corbett i hate them), but do you ever wish you had true faith? I personally do not have that kind of belief, but the concept of absolution of sins, the concept of the forgiving God... my fucking lord, it's a tempting one.
I can't see it as anything but a cop-out for our own weaknesses, and sheeyit, we have plenty, but man alive, i still wish i had faith in god.
....
Another pissed thread. Weeee.

There was this woman walking around Aldi the supermaket the other day singing some hymn shit. Very offputting.
With regards to faith in God, no I don't really want it and no I've never had it. Religion is a load of shit, and emotional crutches aren't really my thing.

i don't.... religiously speaking i'm voluntarily undecided, or agnostic, and that's very fine with me! : )
but i think religious faith is a very weird/interesting phenomenon. it's crazy, so many people sharing the same religion (if i remember, etymologically speaking "religion" means "what links people together" or something like that!), sometimes having such a strong faith... i can understand that, but still i think it's crazy!!

Gehehe, aldi... the Supermarket for Hard Times.
I'm thinking something along the lines of religion as a cure for all ills tonight, y'know... We all have our little cures for Bad Things, but i think the idea of a God who forgives all and loves all (no matter what the evidence to the contrary might be: We now see through the glass darkly and all that sheeyit) is a comforting one. If you truly believed in the christian God, wouldn't your human weaknesses be a lot easier to manage?
Whooo. Fookin' ell, maybe that's the point.

I was listening to radio 4 last night and they were interviewing a man who had written a book about the chane of god existing. He was a statistition by trade and used allsorts of formula arguments for/against to get some numbers to play with. Earthquakes, Evil, Morality, the big bang, choice etc. a nice listen

wasn't there a mathmatician not that long ago who had calculated that God should exist?
reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets a crayon removed from his brain and it turns out this has been what made him so dumb all the time and he gets smart and he kind of by accident proves that God doesn't exist and Homer shows it to Ned who can't find any fault in Homer's ideas.
that's what that reminded me of.

"Possibly the most well-developed instance of this form-versus-content humour was an occasion when Humph announced that they had a very distinguished actor as a guest, and he would be joining in the game of Mornington Crescent. The panellists first played a normal game of Mornington Crescent, ostensibly to give the guest a chance to acclimatise. With much gravitas the guest then approached the panel's table, taking his place such that he would be the last to make his first move. When the game started, the penultimate player, the last of the panellists, won on his first move, thus denying the distinguished guest the opportunity to make even a single move in the game. The chairman apologised, but explained that that was an unavoidable possibility in the game, and the guest gracefully left, without having ever uttered a word. The show was inundated with complaints at the treatment of Alec Guinness, despite the fact that the "distinguished actor" had never actually been named on the show."

I got that from this Wikipedia page.
no specifics about the date.
this page is a great read - the writer explains each and every joke to buggery:
"For example, the regular scorer is "the lovely Samantha" (who never speaks a word), and the team have trialled many "advanced laser scoreboards" over recent decades. In fact these things are of course fictional."
