well, the book is called "charlie and the chocolate
factory".

the first film was called "willy wonka and the chocolate
factory".

I like the original title best, with the alliteration 'n
all.

This one is "technically" not a remake, thats why its called
Charlie... because Tim Burton is making it from the book,
not as a remake of the first movie. I'd just like to see how
Johnny Depp goes as Willy Wonka.

aww crap.
i'm working on set at the moment,
and i can imagine quite a few sour faces,
delays, someone having to explain over
and over again how this half-a-million dollar
camera is covered in tasty chocolate.
he he heh he.

A film spokesperson adds, "Technical tests were being
carried out to see how close the camera could be moved to
the chocolate."

...

Seriously, what?

LITTLE ORANGE MEN!!!!!!

They don't have grfeen hair but at least they aren't CGI.

Good casting - they nailed Veruca Salt and Augustus Gloop.

I like the spin they put on the look and feel - it borrows
quite a bit from the original in a way that doesn't annoy.
And Johnny Depp looks like he's going to be able to pull it
off.

i think burton's interpretation of the visual stylings looks
awesome, I'm skeptical about the acting though. It looks a
little goofy.

Why does Willy Wonka have to be so Marilyn Manson-esque? I
should probably read the book again but I remember him being
odd and disconcerting but not actually frightening.

Wasn't he down to play Mr Wonka at one point?

Eughhhhh, the thought scares me. That would've been awful.
He was meant to be slightly strange but not scary though.

he made that video based on the boatride in the original
film.

to little effect, I might add.

looks good, I love the colour scheme and Depp hasn't been in
a bad Burton film yet *touch wood*

i'd prefer something 'new' though, 2 of his last 3 movies
have been remakes.

His best film so far is Edward Scissorhands.

Looks good =)

Depp seems to enjoy being silly more and more as he gets
older. I could totaly see him in a Farrelly brothers type
comedy.

Am I the first person to mention that Tim Burton might be
overrated? Seems to me that he's been riding a reputation
built on Batman for far too long...

"Seems to me that he's been riding a reputation
built on Batman for far too long..."

Batman? Thats hardly his most acclaimed film, how about
Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Big Fish? I'll admit he's not
exactly the most consistent director but he his films always
have a unique look and atmosphere to them that is sorely
lacking from the majority of Hollywood directors.

i agree that he has a damn good track record and thus is
adequately rated!
