The sign of a healthy democracy is that a significant
proportion of the electorate are naive enough to believe
(and vote for) such a party or that the electorate resort to
voting for extremist parties to show their frustration with
the said democracy?

I don't think so.

there comes a time when democracy fails, look at the last
election in the US, an openly racist party, i thought we
were past all that. and whoever said history repeats itself
wasnt lying.

Its called freedom of speech, if a democracy can't deal with
extremist parties, there is something wrong

yet again, I agree, and I am about as against racism as it
is probable to be, I still think monoid is right. it's only
sociaety that has conditioned us to think that racism is
such a wrong thing, we stereotype all the time, and jsut
like goverments try to work against/for the rich and poor,
that makes them just as bad.

in a completely perfect society you are right, but we live
in the real world, where real racism exists and people get
treated unfairly just because of the color of their skin.
but your point is well taken.

democracy did not fail in the US last presidential election,
it was borishly bypassed.

and noone did anything.

it failed, if it can be bypassed it failed, there was really
not much to do, what can you do? the us government is the
most powerful entity on earth, if the entire rest of the
world cannot escape its pull what makes you think the people
who live here can do anything about it?

that's just insane, ofcourse the people could do something,
but the people don't care.

what's the point of having a democracy if most of the people
don't even care?

same as all that shit that the Bush administration is
spouting about terrorists hating freedom - that's rich,
coming from people who ushered themselves into power.

i care, almost everyone i know cared when bush stole the
election, or when it was given to him.

bush just exploited a flaw in the system. the electorial
college has been outdated for 50 years.

but, since it was a VERY close race no matter how you look
at it, nearly 50% of the people got the man they truly
wanted. they weren't complaining.

besides, even though i think there was definately some funny
business going on in florida, the whole "rigged election"
scenerio isn't nearly as cut and dried as it is presented
here.
