No way, it's the begining of a new era, it'll herald IDM II,
it's going to be the moistest, juiciest, sauciest music
we've ever heard. I bet ten kroner on it being "the acest"
and will restore RDJ as Baddest DJ.

my very vague intution thinks it's going to be average too.

anyway it would have to be really great to catch my
attention, with just 13 minutes of music and me having lost
half of my interest in idm...

you cant say everything he has done was amazing, lets
straigh up some facts- some of his CD's were average, and
some were even shit.
saying that all was amazing makes you look kinda
silly. like a child who never gets enough of ice creams's.

this is what has happened with most of Aphexeseses musics

well, its obvious that when you are saying things like
"everything he has released was superb, great, orgasmic" you
act like a child that "loves ice creams" - when youre adult
you know that some falvours are good, some not, but
ypoungies love ice cream wheter taste is good, or not good-
its just about ice creams.
its the same here - blindness that is caused by lazyness and
stupid way of thinking that says "no matter what will
happen, AFX aill be the best".
as for the electronic scene he might be a precursor of some
movements, but some on, his time is over - thers a loads of
better stuff, like proem, jega, bola, d'arcangelo, ( and im
not mentioning ae or squarepusher ), cex, not to mention
about other electronic / not drill stuff.. everything has
its own time, so as Aphex., and sticking to only one
convention make you look like a blind person.

i hope thatc clear enough.

yeah, but maybe, just maybe, it's all relative. taste and
things.
i for one certainly didn't like ANY effing ice cream flavour
as a kid. in fact kids can be quite difficult, and often
fine critics.

offline DJ Xammax from not America on 2004-09-17 17:28 [#01338309]

What the fuck 'had his time'? He might be past his prime
(could've been the case with Drukqs, considering how quiet
he had been) but old stuff can still be as good as new
stuff.. depending on your tastes. Just ask Ophecks.

offline hyakusen from 8=============> on 2004-09-17 17:28 [#01338310]

and its sad, really sad that some people will never lhear
stuff like steve reich / ruoji ikeda coz of blind love to
old afx stuff. check for yourself - these artists ihave
mentioned are not known by most of people here, while music
they create is zylion times more creative than music of afx
- and to be completely honest, in past few years, in period
after "come to daddy" was released, afx is not too creative
anymore- just the same style, over and over.

had his time nit as "he should leave scene", but read it as
" hes still good / but not the best anymore". theres a
diference.

what kind of ridiculous assumption is that? steve reich? i
think most people here have atleast heard of him, and if
they honestly prefer afx, then thats their right. you're
digging yourself into a very pretentious hole.

if you think that everything afx has released is great, than
thats what you think. i personally think every single thing
BOC has released is good to great. thats my opinion. doesn't
make me close minded or anything else.

i don't think this will be good... well actually, put it
this way: if the tracks that he is about to release were on
Drukqs in the place of other tracks, i have a feeling i
would love them like i love the tracks on drukqs that they
are replacing... but it's just going to be more of the same,
and it gets predictable after a while... when is he going to
but out his bloody noise album like the performance he did
in paris... damn you aphex...

no, its just im amazed by the fact that moost wont admit
that afx is not the best musician in teh world anymore, yet
they still are tryin to prove this - for others and for
themselfs.

the hell? i happen to think hes the best artist working
right now. "best" meaning my favorite. you're trying to
objectify something thats totally subjective. its idiotic
and completely pointless, and you don't really have any
right to inform someone that their taste in music is wrong
or outdated.

compared to Drukqs, which set the standard.

have i informed anyone that their taste is outdated ? no.

youve said good to great - and i can see gradation
here.
while in the other posts i can see only great. no
gradation.
now i dont mind if hes great to you or someone else, its
just sad that ppl are too lazy to search for new things, coz
they think that old ones are the best and nothing can beat

i dare to say that drill'n'bass regulations were set by
older albums made by aphex, and squarepusher ( big loada ? )
, also by bogdan raczynski, and probably some others i
havent heard . drugqs were natural extension of the genre,
and nothing more- it wasnt even in half as innovative as
"comme to daddy" for example.

actually, everything is subjective, but thats another topic
entirely. what happened to listening to music and judging it
on personal tastes instead of preconcieved notions and
opinions about artists and their careers? or did that way of
approaching things never exist?
you people remind me of a bunch of aging music critics
debating totally pointless nonsense.

Please cite an instance where an artist trying to revert to

yeah, well for you its nonsense and for me when you will say

that there is no weak points inhis works are two different

well maybe for you, maybe you just like to listen to good
music, but for me music should be innovative - im not
satisfied by "just good music" im looking for something
special in music which will be not only good, but special.
thats why my discography hasnt go 10000 titles, but just
few, but for me these few beats simple 10000 titles in a
second.
