hey kids! DROON (that's me) MADE A VIDEO! AND i spent the better half of last year making it so pay attention! i entered a one minute cut of this video to this pretty big local movie festival and i got selected! (and hosted) But one of those fucking net votes decides who brings home the big bucks.. i hate fuckin netvotes, all about networks and not about quality.. . i could just give you a direct link, but truthfully, there's quite a bit of nice entries, so go check them out and then vote for mine: i actually made the video AND the sound by myself, most other movies just use other ppls's music "Screen" by "william ghysels" that's me. maybe a little crashcourse in Dutch: "Bekijk dit filmpje" means "watch this movie" "Stem op dit filmpje" means "vote for this movie" k. here's the link to the page with all the movies: if you want a link to the original 3 minute cut on a larger format, mail me. if the music actually was any good, you would have a point. I think your video is technically very proficient, but the imagery kind of falls into the cliché of the "IDM" video. |

it IS random spam, and you don't know me.. altho i AM an active member of the so called "idm" scene (graphic designer for planet-mu records amongst other things) and then more precicely the breakcore wing of that. i'm as unhappy about this netvote thing as all of you, but spamming is the only way to win , coz you know the others are doing the same. i try to play it fair.. I only post it to message boards that would care, i tell ppl to check the other video's aswell, if my video would suck, all this would be a fruitless effort, but 'm getting tons of brilliant reactions, and i'm rapidly rising ranks, so i gotta keep doing this. too much money and career benifits are at stake.. and it IS artwank, i'll agree on that, but it's good never the less. if u like it, plz vote, it's the only way i'll get anything back from the countless hours i spent on it.. it's a way of getting some more crazy shit to be seen by a mainstream crowd.. and 2nd place isn't gonna buy me any potatoes! |

I think your video is technically very proficient, but the imagery kind of falls into the cliché of the "IDM" video." sorry bro, falls under "tastes and colours". most reactions are pretty friggin positive. i agree on the "idm-ish" ness of the video. but idm video's look like that for a reason, coz it's the same society that brings them forth.. . it' like saying that all punk sounds like the sexpistols. sure..i didn't plan this to look like that, but it's how i felt. plus it's hardly cliché if u can count decent idm video's on both ur hands. there's maybe 4-5 video's that look like this. by today's standards where minions worldwide are getting down in a creative way, that's pretty good. |

I never said my remark wasn't about taste - I already recognized that it's technically proficient, that's the non-taste part. saying "IDM videos" look like that because it's from the same society is silly - that doesn't mean people can't actually try to create something really new, that's just lazy thinking. it is clichéed if you take in mind that most amateurs think along the same kind of imagery. this is produced very professionally, but the content isn't much different. |

well, i've made a few things i've never seen anywhere else, and as said, i agree this looks familiar. but i do believe this "look" is derrived from common influences and issues, rather then just copiing off eachother. i was aware off this before i started, i collected all i could be accused of plagiarizing, and then tried to stay clear of it, but it ended up beeing a big circle.. discovering movies that had very similar image very late in the process of making it. (btw, on the movie page there's 2 video's that, when combined, basicly add up to mine.. the rubber band and the "landscape" one..) |

why yes i do! the parties are called "breakcore gives me wood" next one is 22-oct 2004 with -eiterherd(widerstand, austria) -xanopticon(peace-off, mirex, hymen, USA), -maladroit(Coretex, system corrupt, australia) and 777. plus sickboy(deatyh$ucker, tigerbeat 6, cockrockdisco, peace off, mirex) ,me and other locals. proabably all for the usual 5 euro's but the location is legal this time so we gotta check that. |

and tnx for that!, i think few people were entertained.. ow and there was a guy asking what software i use.. maxon cinema 4D for the 3D, Adobe after effects for compositing(that' putting the 3D on the real shit) and vegas 3.0 for cutting it up. pro compositing software is.. for example ..discreet combustion or apple shake, that's what ur average blockbuster uses, if they're not running dedicated systems, but home pc's running linux are replacing those due to tremendous increase of calculating power in those... i can have the setup of a majotr studio, at home, the only advantage they have is cheer manpower (and maybe talent) |

Oh thanks for getting back to me on that, I'm really keen to find out more on that side of things, compositing and such. I have been reading about Shake and that but I was interested in what the person working from a home set-up could use, so thanks for that. I'll be sure to direct as many philmic bods as I know (and I know some) to check out your video. |

man, they really compressed the hell out of your video. Or is the data rate/quality based on an individual's connection speed? I'd like to watch a bigger longer version. What I could see through the compression macroblocks was pretty cool though. |

i can appreciate what it's like doing something like this for a career break, and quite frankly the other videos there are crap, so i voted for you. what's going to get you ahead is making a video that's unique and breaks out of what's standard, and to the general public viewing this you've done that - to us in the idm know though, it looks rather typical. you've demonstrated you're incredibly competent and talented and the video is quite good, but both the video and audio is rather 'idm' cliched and there's some parts that looks like you rushed and it doesn't look as polished as other sections (parts of showing the hand towards the start, for example). i can see great potential, good luck with it, i hope you do well. |

actually, some of the other videos aren't bad now i've looked at more, still like yours the most though. what does the dos batch filel at the start say? i can't see it properly. (i really need to get a decent grip on dutch, the few words in my vocabulary probably aren't the best ;p |
