humans better than animals?

why do we tend to think that humans are the most
intelligent species in this planet?

why do we give such importance to progress as a sign of
superiority over the rest of the animals?

I remember in the film matrix when one said thast humans are
the cancer of this world... and I think its in some way
true

I am at work... thinking these things... is that normal???

Yep. Talking about "useless turtles" last night made me
realise, that the first species who should be deleted from
this planet, is humans

no.

anyway, i heard somewhere that animals are actually better,
because, only people could kill for joy, animals kill coz of
natural instinct and for food, but people are killing coz
they like to do it.

Humans = animals

But whatever. Us humans should indeed be wiped out. We're
slowly destroying a planet that was perfect.

humans are no way more inteligent.

Some humans may be the most inteligent animals on the earth,
but as a whole we're pretty dumb imo =o)

i allmost decided to dedicate my life to wiping out the
human race.
my plan was to study genetics etc and then genetically
modify a virus that causes a uteral infection making women
infertile, to spread like the flu.
i would not be killing anybody, but no more humans would be
born in a natural way anymore. perfect solution i thought
and i was very serieus about it.
then music got in the way...

Humans are the most inteligent specy...
We have the conscience of our existence... That's the
difference, as they said.

I think that's all.

Can we really speak of human's supremacy of inteligence? I
dont think so.

humans are the most inteligent species, but we're using our
inteligence in a not so good way.

tolstoyed, nail -> head :)

however, the people who ask for us to be wiped out...sorry
but that is really stupid. you're just asking for yourself
to be killed?? hypocrits.

the only real problem is overpopulation. and as long as we
eventually lose the natural increase in population and it
gradually lowers until it becomes stable, problem solved.

but i've thought about this in the past, and i came to the
conclusion that it's inevitable that a species will evolve
to the point of consciousness, and if people weren't here,
another species would take our place, it would be the same.
so why destroy the ol' homo sapiens when we've come so far,
and have the potential to eventually bring things back to
normal? it doesn't look so likely with the increasing
population that we have right now, but germany, japan
(probably others) have a decreasing birth rate, so it will
happen. do your bit, have 2 or less kids! :)

also hyakusen, killer whales kill for fun as well. there are
probably others i don't know about.

I saw a documentary on tv a while ago that said that if the
earth's history was one hour, life would exist in the last
20 minutes and humans would only start to appear in the last
hundreds of a second. Considering we probably don't last
much longer I think we're pretty insignificant if you look
at the big picture. A few frames in a movie, hardly
noticable.

In this way spiders seem pretty intelligent for surviving so
long

you wanna know the funny thing ?

earth is over millions of years old. our civilization , no
matter how long we will survive, will no leave any signs of
it after millions of years.
question :

maybe there were other civilizations before us, but after
millions of years the signs of them are vanished ? how do
you think ?
you cant say "no", tho you cant say "yes".

thats the most amazing thing.

i would like an animal/ nature revolution to kill all
humans.
that would be ok.

melack, shut up. sorry to be blunt (and offensive) but that
is just thick.
hyakusen, we still dig up dinosaur bones...or do you mean
buildings, tools, etc?

yeah tools, buildings... and im talking about time long long
before dinozaurs, millions of years before them.
i mean, we cant be sure that atmosphere was allways
anti-life before evolution started to create living
organisms.
maybe there were civilizations that affected nature so
badly that they have perished, and the circle goes on and on
and on...

yeah, i supose it's all in how you define "intelligence",
but i think it's a rather weak argument to say that we are
not the most intellectually advanced.

Through our ability to concieve, create, and use tools we
can manipulate any environment on earth and kill any other
animal predator or prey. I'd say that puts us at the top.

However, we may very well smother ourselves into extinction
with our shortsighted arrogance. So, our ability to live in
complete harmony with our environment is severely limited by
our desire to conquer it.

But, that's just how life as we know it seems to work.
Species try visciously hard to survive at the expense of
other species (sometimes even their own). We're just the
most efficient.

animals live by instincts=purity
human intelligence gives them a choice. we are the only
animals capable of being "bad". we have a choice to be pure
but it is very hard. The domestic dog, tainted by human
teaching can be said to be on a fine line of knowing what
"bad" behaviour is. eg, a family dog that nips a small child
and then hides under the table looking meek knows it has
been naughty.

these are my thoughts. now sleepy time.

sounds like a bad sci fi plot :) but yeah, it could be true,
you can't prove either way.

Is it better though not having the ability to comprehend
death? It's a pretty heavy burden.
