Will you look back in a few years, and notice what a
conventional boring person you really are ?

Teenage rrebellion sometimes is a must on the rroad to
finding out just who the fuck you arre and what you want.
It's oh so cool to mock it and act like it's below you when
you'rre past that stage.

Who could know better than yourself?

I look around me, in the places I visit, and see kids acting
"rebellious"; trying to stand out. They're just apeing their
peers, wearing the same clothes, getting the same hair,
getting tattoos, buying brand-name trainers or some such
shite, causing trouble by hassling those more mature than
they are claiming that maturity equals boring conformity,
adopting the same speech forms and phrases and banging on
about how they need to express themselves as individuals.

God I wish they'd just grow up and realise just what a waste
of space they really are.

And how should young people spend their time ? They need a
vehicle for acting out their teenage rebellion.....so they
can look back in a few years and notice what conventional
boring persons they really?

So, what if they like Rimbaud, and linking park ? People who
criticze them are mostly passive aggressive absolutists who
can only gain their psuedo self esteem by attacking
others....

I disagree. Young people should spend their time doing
something more worthwhile than abusing the system that
supports them. Anarchism is all fine and well in fiction but
a world powered by it doesn't work. There should be no need
for teenagers to rebel in the first place if they accepted
their place and used their time to develop themselves in
less destructive ways.
Criticism of youth might be done by passive aggressive
absolutists who can only gain their psuedo self esteem by
attacking others, but not exclusively. See, here I'm doing
it!

We're watching the first generation of moody adolescents all
too willing to put their beyond-parody thoughts and
"insights" into the public domain on a global scale. I kept
a diary when I was 14-18, I read it a few short years later
and I was mortified at what a nob I was. Of course you think
you know everything before you realise that actually you
know nothing. I think in a few short years a lot of people
will be begging Google and Archive.org to erase their
self-indulgent navel-gazing frankly embarrassing wank off of
the caches in case their employers/friends/family found out
whiney little shits they actually were and continue to be.

And what about those who find "Jeebus" or "Islam" ? Or any
other RELIGION, or IDEOLOGY that can be easily abused, to
manipulate a young persons mind ?

Yeah, but thats the REASON why the world is such a shitty
place....most people dont know who they are, who they belong
to...and in the worst case these people sometimes become,
terrorists.....

offline uzim on 2004-09-11 09:47 [#01331937]

dunno.

i don't want no kids, and i'm not sure about a wife. well,
i'm 18 and not even looking for a girlfriend yet so what do
i know. but anyway i've never been a rebel, i just don't
care a lot and i'm much more a fatalist than a combative
person... i keep dreaming about stuff all the time, head in
the clouds or how do you say it in english - apart from that
i guess i'm boring, lazy, not very smart, but i have
positive sides too (dreaming is positive i think). i just
hope i don't become a down-to-earth person, that would make
me some kind of crappy person without any interest
whatsoever really.

It doesn't really matter what these kids feel that they're
achieving by rebelling, they will change. Anarchy has been
completely soiled though, I bet that only a small percent
could even give a concrete definition of the word but that
goes for a lot of other people too.
What exactly do you intend to do about the world, Monoid?
That might be one of the reasons why the world is a shitty
place, but it's upto everyone to create a reason to live as
there is no universal reason to live.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-09-11 09:56 [#01331947]

i think creating a family could be the universal reason...

What am I about to do ? Thats not the question, the question
is WHAT I can do....and the answer is simple, either Ill be
part of a system where everyone tries to fuck over everyone,
if I chose not to be part of such a system, I get fucked
over anyway..... (does that even make sense....)

offline xceque on 2004-09-11 10:02 [#01331950]

So you want and expect life to be the way that makes you
feel the best? The world isn't a big machine that's "out to
fuck you or let you fuck others". The world is just a big
place with people in it. How you perceive it determines your
reactions to events. If you don't want to fuck people over
or get fucked, change your perceptions.

you do agree though that life is getting more and more
stressfull? which must mean we're doing something
wrong...it's not people friendly world anymore. you can
pretend you don't care and live happily ofcourse..i can't
though.

That's not quite what I meant. I didn't mean "avoid problems
in life by re-spelling them" or somesuch.

I do agree that the people in the world seem to be becoming
more violent and agressive, and I often think "the world is
going to hell". I do care, but there's little I can do about
it, and I have my own problems, so the small things I do do
that may, if not make things better, at least not make them
worse, don't get noticed. All I can do is to try and not let
it get to me. Most people find a way to do this without much
effort.

If you put it that way, a family could be a universal
reason. But then again, not everyone wants a family. Once
people have hooked up with their chosen partner they just
end up with one sooner or later, fair point Tolstoyed.
Xceque, You can't just change your perceptions to that of
societies without having some sort of conflict with yourself
if your initial perceptions were really what you thought,
people have morals and ethics. Are you prepared to step on
someones head to get to the top? Because life naturally puts
you in opposition and conflict with others.

making Britney Spears a millionaire ? The same people who

happen, but your reactions to them and how you let them

when in fact i was looking for the definition of the
noun. To the bottom of the class with you. Again.
