i just gave away my entire cd collection to my mate as ive
now finally converted it all to mp3. My 500 + cds are now
packed onto one tiny external hard drive (backed up of
course). My mate now has all the cds but i can get them back
if need be. I also threw away all the cases to my dvds and
have them in wallets. Portable lives are more fun. the end.

That's one of the motivations behind my selling my CD
collection. I'm moving more towards a portable lifestyle
where I can just go and live anywhere I want.

For your sake I hope you haven't done that with any rare
releases.

i agree. I dont have any permanent plans for the future as
yet with regards to location. Im moving every 6-12 months at
the moment, and hauling huge boxes of cds and dvds
everywhere isnt helping. Now i have my life in 4 boxes and a
suitcase. The boxes are basically all my studio equipment.
Suitcase is clothes (duh) and that about it.

cant reach them really, but most of my cd's suck anyway

Sell them on eBay then and buy some that don't suck.

sadly, mp3 will most probably become the standard.

on the other hand, there will always be people who want a
better sound quality, much like there are now people who
only want vinyl.

Craziness. Even when I've finally got my mp3 player you can
guarantee my CDs will always be there. If only for the
artworks.

granted, the artworks are cool, but its a sacrifice i dont
mind making. I think im only going to buy music online now
and just download it straight to my computer. I use it for a
hi-fi, and i use a minidisc/mp3 player for my car. I like
space.

my hearing is very bad (already) so i dont care much for
.wav anymore. i used to, but i really cant tell the
difference between 180 kbps .ogg and a wav so thats what i
use for my cds. might as well sell em now
