so i noticed that some of you dont believe in other life
after death, hum humm.

well, its not about specific religion or general belief into
something, BUT, i think that there is something after life,
because, well, it is.
so what do you think, humm hum.

I think there exists no soul, no "energy" that represents
you. you are your body, more precisely your brain.

if that dies, you stop existing.

to some this sounds bleak, to me it just sounds kind of
logical. it doesn't make life any less "worthwhile" for me.

well, so after this one , theres nothing more ? well, i cant
agree on that. as you know brain is more that just neuron
web, it has something that allows you to think, have free
will. it cant perish just like that.

it would seem logical it's the end...although i was reading
an article some scientist wrote, about afterlife and death
experience...apperantly people who get clinically dead and
then get weel again all have this same experience, where
they're kind of observing their boddies from above or
something...and they all tell same stuff about the
experience. i'd like to belive, but we will never know.

I don't see how there would be anything more than neural
connections. there is no scientific evidence of this, at
least.

current thoughts within phillosophy seem to veer towards the
idea that there is not one center that entails your
personality, rather that it is a complex link of cerebral
processes.

thinking is really just a by-product of brain activity
anyway..

that apparently has to do with a sudden rush of endorphins,
which creates the hallucinations of a white light, warmth,
etc.

there has been extensive research into this phenomenon.

well, for me fee will and , in general, ability to think it
cause by something more that a bunch of little molecules.
besides, you dont need no evidence to believe in such simple
things like emotions, lets say.what about them ?

If a self exists aside from the chemicals that make up your
brain, why does your personality change when your brain is
damaged? Is this not an area where you have some expertise
borne of experience?

they're actually dead for only a few seconds, but i think
they say it was like hours for them...

i think this guy i read stuff by was one of the leading
scientists in that field, and he sounded a bit enthusiastic
about the possibility of after life...although him or anyone
else can't tell what happens.

i think that i don't know, and that the most probable thing
to happen would be just dying when you die - but a lot of my
daydreams/fantasms/stuff like that happen in a fantasy life
i'd get in a next life. being reincarnated into what you
want and where you want would be quite nice (even though it
wouldn't be as enriching as being reincarnated into a
totally different form of life in another universe which you
couldn't even imagine as a human). why not?

I don't believe that there is anything after life. Your
brain, whilst alive, is more than the sum of it's parts;
producing memory, perception, philosophy, reason, etc, but
these are just by-products of it's normal behaviour.
Like the intelligence of the hive (such as ants) is simply
so-called emergent intelligence; the apparent
intelligence suggested by the collective actions of
individuals acting on instincts built from aeons of
evolution. The actions evolve because it better ensures the
species survives. Each ant is not intelligent, but as a
whole they seem to be.
The brian is similar in that the neurons and synapses
working in pre-programmed ways create intelligence. The
brain becomes greater than it's parts. But once the brain
dies, each part becomes nothing, and the sum of nothing will
always be nothing.

Jesus fucking Christ, stop the fighting. Everybody get
together, try to love one another right now. Hyakusen,
you're under fire for things you sort of brought upon
yourself, but yet I still feel compelled to defend you
because I get irked by this stuff. When someone has nothing
to add but an insult to a topic you start, if you don't even
acknowledge them, that's being saucy, the James Dean thing
to do. That's what the cool kids do. They really really want
to hear back from you, it would make their minute, it's
their raison d'etre, so just don't reply. Boom, internet
battle won, who gives a shit. You keep happily replying to
people that are staying on topic, and their mission is
failed. Over time, they'll see they mean nothing to you, and
nothing sucks more than being nothing. It's hard to do, but
it quickly becomes so so easy. War and famine would cease to
exist if messageboard users could do this.

Life after death, life after death... I'm not sure what to
believe. I know what I WANT to believe, but I can't believe
it. Considering how many things there are that I simply CAN
NOT BELIEVE, I can still hold out hope that there's
something unbelievable after death. Even if it's nothing.
I'm not going to worry about it or live my life as if I AM
worried about it. I'll find out when the cancer strikes me
down (it'll most likely be that which does me in, right?).
