i haven't reformated in 9 months, and sometimes (more and
more often, i get the impression) my browser (no matter
whether IE or Firefox) goes down in a page by itself. i have
to press the up key to stop it.

think it could be a virus or something?

If you are using a laptop, sometimes the scroll areas at the
edge of the pad don't release when they should resulting in
the automatic scrolling of a page, solution is to alter the
settings or pour beer on your laptop.
