Hello boys, a while ago at work I made this autorun menu
for our software and since then it has gone out to clients
and partners, etc. My boss has just told me that one partner
really likes it and they want their own one doing. He wants
me to make it and send it to him to forward on to them. Am I
being a twat in thinking that because I don't work for this
other company at all I should get some extra money for it? I
don't know about all this business lark, but I can't just
say to my boss "nah, they can contact me in private if they
want one", can I?

If you developed this autorun menu at work i guess it
belongs to your work. I don't think you could ask for extra
money and I can't imagine you saying "nah, they can contact
me in private" would make your boss happy. You could,
cheekily, ask if there's anything extra in it for you I
suppose, depends how chummy you are with your boss.

if you're on a salary the answer is no. wouldn't you only be
doing something else instead anyway? a few modifications
here & there would only take about 15 minutes anyway.

tell him, you could work on it from home, but that you think
you should be compensated for that, if he tells you to just
send what you have, say that it will still take time to
isolated the source and send it as a package, with all of
the code being intergrated with the other system.

might work :)

You're right, it's only a pissy menu. Never mind. I'm just
starting to get really disillusioned with this job, I guess.

What program?

If you did at work you are screwed. If you developed it at
home you can claim intelectual rights to it but it would
probably piss your boss off.
