(sorry, i know there are already 1158 topics about headphones - 1159 now... but)
i went to the shop today, and since i decided to buy new headphones after all (the wire of my current ones, Koss Porta Pros, would not be long enough for the hi-fi stuff i'll have in my room anyway) - my budget is something around, like, €200...
they only had a few at the shop, i could try Sennheiser HD 265 and it sounded very fine to me but then i went to see reviews on the website of the shop and it was only 5/10 average, two 10/10 reviews with no problem but two other 0/10 ones because there were bad connections or something, i don't know how you say it in english ' _ '
i heard good things about Sennheiser though...
the other ones available for around the same price are Koss Pro/4AA T, couldn't try these ones...
i don't know what to do... of course sound quality is the priority but i want solid headphones too, i don't want them to break after 6 months...

just so you know, my experience with koss warranty repair has been excellent.. they take about three to four weeks, but you always get a new pair, promptly shipped, no questions asked. at least in canada.

Holy crap, you have a €200 budget for headphones?! I listen to music through a system of plastic cups connected with waxed string.

deepspace9mm > yes, i know, it's a lot ' _ ' my grandmother is being very generous lately. she fears she will die soon (which i hope not), so she gives out a lot of money to her descendants...

Dang, my nan is doing exactly the same thing lately, she gave me £200 for my 18th birthday yesterday :-O This is the first time in about a million years i've actually had a lot of money, so i'm going to try to buy something USEFUL, like a big load of canvas or something for doing field recordings with (minidisc recorder, condenser mic etc) instead of drinking and smoking all my money away.
I just use £30 sony phones btw, and they do me pretty well. A bit muddy on the low frequencies, mind, but i can cope.

my friend has those Sennheisers... and they are amazing... but they are prone to getting damaged in the cord connections... that said, I have never had a pair of Koss headphones that didn't break often so... i would go with the sennheiser, and just make sure they have a decent warranty... sometimes you can extend warranties for several years by paying a bit extra<-- this is a very good idea as there is no such thing as a pair of headphones that won't break on you...

From what i've read, sennheiser phones have a VERY good reputation, dunno about particular models though.

the only bad thing i can find about the koss is that they're apparently quite heavy, and it takes a bit to get adjusted to wearing them. the senns, on the other hand, have a range of complaints, and you're apparently paying a lot of money for the sennheiser name. i'd go for the koss, personally.

probably the guarantee will make the difference, if i can get extra guarantee for one of the products.
the shop made my Porta Pro life-guaranteed, which is very fine.
