very close to being a perfect album. azukiiro no kaori may be the most beautiful thing i've heard, ever. i've got magic thread and a couple other ones by him, and i'm wondering if laputa is worth buying or not.

get them all mate, get them all.
sakura was my first Sosumu cd after my Pops gave me a tape he had of sosumu live in Japan - trippy stuff altogether.

Laputa is indeed lame. I was very dissapointed by it...Also, I recognize loads of the samples he uses, and they're hardly changed-he just shoved samples from various pieces of music together.
I love The Boy And The Tree, though...

Hmm.. I found some samples at boomkat.. however, they are all from Laputa, which most of you seem to agree are not his best tracks. Does anyone have any other samples? (my opinion on the laputa tracks.. nothing special. not good, but not bad)

Is this representative of the sound of the rest of the album (as far as I see it's from the Sakura album?)?

it's a bit different to other songs, which are all pretty diverse...yokota is one of best producers for sure.
check search results for kodomotachi...indeed a very popular song :)

ok. It just finished, and even though I wouldn't call it the best song ever, it made me want to buy the album. I just need confirmation that it is on "sakura," then.

then I'll have to write down the name and go to order the album... hope the record store can take it in... they can get mostly anything, which is good, 'cause I don't like ordering over the internet (just ordered a 12" (out of "charity".. a good friend works with administrating a webshop, so I had to buy something from it...), which I got yesterday, and the cover was in bad shape when it arrived, so...). Is it available on vinyl?

laputa is good, not as easy to get into as his other albums but still very good.
I just bought Grinning Cat but it seems a little dissapointing on first listen, i'll give it a chance to grow on me but I don't think i'll like it as much as his others.
Boy and the Tree and Sakura are his masterpieces so far i think.

grinning cat is nice, i think. i actually downloaded laputa after some of the negativity people have given it here. its ok, i'm impressed by maybe two tracks, but nothing stands out about his best works. he's definitely an inconsistent artist, but still one of my favorites.

nothing stands out above his best works, i meant. sakura is still his best, with magic thread and boy and tree close behind. those three have such different feels to them, and i love how organic magic thread sounds even though the intrumentation is so weirdly electronic.

yeah, laputa has a few hidden gems...
sakura and boy and the tree are pretty consistent though, hardly a bad track.
i'm liking 'Cherry Blossom' a lot from Grinning Cat, listening to the album grinning cat right now, i only bought it yesterday.

magic thread is very minimalist, probably moreso than grinning cat. it sort of sounds like SAW 2 in the way the instrumentation is really alien yet organic at the same time. my favorite thing by him behind sakura.

i didnt hear boy & tree properly, just sounded like a load of bells chiming and shit to me...
kodomotchi is the track that got me into susumu
has anyone else noticed the samples aphex track 'nannou2' (last one off drukqs) in his track 'i am flying' on 'laputa'
and a good job he does with it too!
