- What rruins yourr chances?

Is it best to wearr a shirrt and tie orr just a
shirrt? Is it betterr to coverr all tattoos? If you do
coverr them may they come back to haunt you if you get the
job? Is making hobbies up a good idea to make yourrself
appearr to be a fully rrounded hopeful? In the interrview do
you go forr 'chatty' orr 'prrofessional'?

Depends what the job is really. What you going for?

depends how tasteful the tattoos are. don't overdress
yourself. be rather casual, smile a lot, appear rather
relaxed but also capable and enthusiastic.

Worrking in the rrecorrds section of the librrarry. I think
it should be prretty laid back, but at the same time I'm not
surre being the council and all.

The prroblem is I have a dull life and 'down the pub' isn't
a hobby, but the shit has hit the fan in the past when it
comes to telling lies.

that wasn't rreally a rreply to you perrsonally.

A suit would be a good impression for an interview even if
there is no dress code for the job, plus you need try and
put forward that your organised so make sure that you're all
neat and tidy and stuff

And don't say things like "I'm a DJ so I likes records like
innit"

Dress smart, suit would be advisable, if no suit then shirt
and tie is a must. Be relaxed but professional, let them
know you have an interest in music but don't go over the
top. Make sure you know exactly what the position involves
and why you are the best person for the job, also have
questions to ask them at the end of the interview.

I've only ever had one interview, and they were desperate as
fuck to fill the post so i dunno. I'd guess that shirt and
tie is a pretty good idea at least, just be friendly,
enthusiastic and professional-seeming i suppose. And yeah,
have some questions to ask at the end of the interview...
don't ask about the pay rate too early.

Asking about pay for local authority positions is a bit
pointless. It is much better to find out what their pay
scales are and ask for confirmation of the graded position
rather than in hard currency. That way it looks as though
you have researched things.

would be too late then. ahh :(

I've never worn a tie or anything fancy to an interview...
hell, I usually don't even shave, and I've never been turned
down. I came ready with answers to whatever dumb question
they have... I find it's good to do a minute or two of
research on the company you're applying to, because they
always seem to ask me things like, ''what do you know about
this company''? And they like it when you know.

If I was a job interviewer person guy, I'd like it if
someone came in not dressed like faker prick. Come in with
an Iron Maiden shirt and I'd be impressed at your bluntness.
But I don't know how the minds of those people work, maybe
they've been told specifically to look for stupid
inconsequential shit like that.

well, once you're in a certain age and have a familly it can
get difficult i imagine, but as long as you're on your own
and responsible only for yourself, you can try out different
things i guess. dunno. i'll let you know when im 35 :)

I've hearrd that I'm at an advantage because I have a penis.
It's a female dominated worrk arrea and they arre crrying
out forr male employees. I should farrt and pick me nose I
think.

I see what you'rre saying Ophecks but a 45 yearr old woman
may not have the same apprroach to picking employees as you
do.

If it pays more than your last job, and it doesn't involve
you being beaten with twigs, then go for it. Lie, cheat,
murder, create a fictional past, wear a motherfucking
suit... fuck it. I don't think anyone REALLY wants to work
unless they have some sort of mental problem, but cash is
cash, and cash = alcohol.

No don't lie. Because if you make up hobbies and your fake
hobby is one that they also have and they start talking in
depth about it then ou'll look like a nob and a liar. No
need. Just talk about stuff you are interested in.
