Sure sure, solid releases from VSnares. Plaid and
Squarepusher in recent months, but it seems there is either
not much attention paid to the smaller acts, or there is
simply not enough of our preferred musicks coming out.

We seriously need a gigantic tsunami of IDM to come crashing
very soon. I see so many people talking about the same
things.... i think it would benefit our "scene."

but honestly... everyone here hates my music and hates
everything to do with IDM.

every person here thinks that IDM is merely put into the
category "techno"

fucking wanks.

I've recently gotten into this 'grime' thing, wich i didn't
like so much first. I really like the Soundmurder releases
on rephlex and the bug releases aswell...it obviously isn't
classic 'IDM'(i still hate that word) but it's new music and
really good

i might be wrong, but maybe idm needs to evolve if it
doesn't want to die. like in nature, or something.

categorising music like this ruins it, and proliferates bad
music that doesn't need to be heard.

always has seemed strange to me to say a genre is dying. a
genre is just a grouping you thought up yourself. people
talk about it like all the artists are working together to
keep that little damn genre alive, goddammit! like they
care.

do you listen to a genre? or do you listen to music?

Technically it's not new music. It's old jungle and
dancehall remade using modern techniques (but still keeping
the sound). Though it's damn good.

And what's all this about there being no new talent out?
Root around some other labels instead of sticking solely to
the big 3.

Adaadat, 19-T, V/VM, Mashup Soundsystem, Aural Addiction,
CD-R, Romz, Death$ucker... fuck man, the list goes on.

Nah, I don't really think we need a revolution, or any kind
of shifting of the IDM tectonic plates. I don't like what's
being produced now as much as what came out in 2001,
electronic-wise, but there's still enough awesome music and
good new artists to point towards a pretty bright future.
Things just move in cycles, it's a circular world.

IDM doesn't need to ''evolve''... what IS ''IDM'', anyway?
It's too darn broad now... I've heard ''IDM'', ''quote'',
and ''unquote'', that touches on pretty much every base
(except polka... but I'm probably just not looking hard
enough).

actually the term IDM is finally making sense. the releases
now are more focused in music you can party with. or music
that can be mixed easily.

so now it's dance music again. intelligent? i dunno.

ouch. seems my thread kind of irritated people. ah well.

as usual though, qrter wins. i should listen to different
music instead, which i do.

so anyways, new tom waits coming...
