philip glass is a wanker.

in the most literal sense. he constantly sounds like he's
wanking himself. ta-TUM ta-TUM ta-TUM.. his music is so
unbelieveably self-congratulatory. no thanks. i've been
enjoying max richter's 'the blue notebooks' a lot lately,
and i recommend it to anyone who likes glass but is tired of
philip.

I downloaded Max Richter's album out of vague interest, plus
I was yet to check out any modern classical... I really like
it, On The Nature Of Daylight is a wonderful piece. Of
music.

did you see when south park used philip glass in the
non-denominational, non-offensive christmas play?

i have an orange record from him... the entire thing is one
song (yeah, its a 12 inch record). the entire thing is just
one simple loop.

he's become a lot more symphonic and a lot less minimalist
over the years though. his current stuff is worlds apart
from his seventies stuff.

i've only heard the track he did with Aphex Twin which is
amazing, never heard any of his solo stuff but I always
thought he was pretty highly regarded.

he is, at least by me. music in 12 parts is fantastic, you
just need a little patience and a lot of time, it lasts 3.5
hours and rarely changes throughout

They made us listen to Einstein on the Beach in my music
class last semester. Man, was that agonizing.

He composed a great score for Koyaanisqatsi though.

Music For 18 Musicians and Music For 6 Marimbas. Seeing
reich performed live is about a million times better though.

I love philip glass. Hes my favorite composer...

he does have a lot of methods he uses over and over... but
its just done so damn well. I love his melodies.

There is some stuff that isnt as great, like any artist, but
the works by him I love... I LOVE.

And yeah, his later stuff is a lot different from his 70s
stuff.

(And reich is awesome too... but I prefer philip)

He's good, but I'm not a huge fan of him or anything. I find
the opening theme to Hamburger Hill to be really really
haunting... definitely my favorite Glass track.

i dont even know what the big deal with phillip glass is,
wow he makes some good music for films or whatever.

you all most likely only know him because he collaborated
with aphex, or something

next.

i love glass, though i don't like everything i've heard.
glassworks is awesome, and so is einstein on the beach. and,
i rarely stroke my chin (a lie). checking out some richter
now.

to any electronic music, or was aware of aphex, cos of a
mate of mine who was really into him.

that's just me though.

i dont even know what the big deal with Gwely Mernans is,
wow aphex pretends to be tangerine dream for 5 minutes or
whatever.

next.

everyone can make stupid coments. try saying something
constructive. i dare you.

i've only heard a few glass releases. i first came across
after watching candyman a few years back, and loved the
soundtrack. circles is an excelent release, probably my
favourite glass work.
