The last few times that I have loaded up Reason 2.5, I have noticed that instead of nice smooth sounds, I am confronted by jerky breakups in the sound, resulting in me feeling irate. Does anyone have a suggestion as to why this is happening, and how to combat it?
Thank you,
marlowe.

Check your latency settings in preferences, up it to the max and see if it solves the problem. If it does, trial and error it to a point that gives low (comparatively) latency without breaking up the sopund.
Look at CPU useage- is the bar leaping about? If so, disable any virus checkers/internet using programs/hard disk indexing etc. whilst using the program (be sure to turn 'em back on afterwards though!)

I already checked CPU usage, Ceri, and it is not that. I have been using Reason for like 8 months now, and I know what it is when the CPU usage goes 'aywire. I am really confused about this, because it is out of the blue - nothing has changed as far as I know, except mysteriously it will not play properly any more :(
