ok, i know i'm about a year late on this, but i just bought
their self titled album. what the hell happened to this
band? i almost didn't buy it simply because the cover is
awful, and i had heard no songs on it.
so i put it in and i'm blown away by how good the first
track, hexagram is. and then, much like their career, the
whole thing goes downhill. sad.

feiticeira

boards of canada needs to do that tribute to deftones
"rainbow pony", and use that rainbow horse graphic, rad

i love this album. as well as every other album deftones
have ever released. personally, i think they're one of the
few bands going under the "new-metal" label that actually
deserve praise. lots of praise.

agreed. but deftones is an unique band, no matter what
people try to label them.

any band who have goatees, wear shorts, have copious tatoos
or go on stage shirtless or not worth listening to. full
fucking stop. end of discussion.

They've been in the game since 95.

...and I like that album.

i don't care how long they've been in the game, they've
always been fucking awful.

Oh, but I was talking to Drunken Mastah. I just don't really
file them under "nu-metal".

upon further listens, this album actually isn't that bad.
still, they've definitely gotten worse. and please, the "nu
metal" comments are so predictable. come up with a better
reason to hate the music.

Adrenaline's a good record, but this one's a disaster

some bits of Around the Fur were good, like that track where
every line seems to end in "too much"

"sleep too much... etc"

can't remember why it was good tho :)

I don't really like their earlier stuff but White Pony and
this one are quite solid. I especially love White Pony.
Man, I was addicted to that record when it first came out.

digital bath and knife prty are both quite good on that
album. the rest...so so.

adrenaline, around the fur, white pony.
white pony is the lesser of the three for me, but it does
have feiticeira which is probably my favorite deftones song.

deftones are supreme. they are NOT nu-metal! all of the
those shitty bands would be nothing without
Deftones/Tool/NiN/Pearl Jam/Radiohead... others.... to guide
them.....

they deserve some respect.

and the new album is not all that bad. but the worst of all
4 prolly.

it was like white pony only without enthousiasm
i thought with white pony they were onto something good and
original but it was still a raw sketch which i hoped they
would explore furter, but they did not
the first two albums, especially the first are simple but so
good and pure energy
to come up with some lame qualifications

whats everyones thoughts on saturday night wrist?

i love some of their older work, especially around the fur,
but this.. i dont know. 'Beware' is an ok track, but the
whole thing sounds so.. so angsty (there, i said it)
and emo. Take track 2 for example. WTF MAN?

i think its a good album, great fun to play on the bass
guitar, especially Hole in the earth, Rapture & Combat!
