Anyone read Ulysses by James Joyce? I'm reading it at the
moment. Don't have A CLUE what's happening, I'm just staring
at the words like a simpleton.

It has been on my TO-READ list for some years, but I have
never mustered the courage to read it. I have read Joyce's
other works, like Portrait... and DUbliners.

It's my first by him, I naively thought it would be fun to
read! Some bits are understandable but some of it is just :|

his stuff seems to vary between straightforward with some
surreal elements (sputnik sweetheart, norwegian wood) and
surreal with a noir/detective frame story (wind up bird,
wild sheep chase, hard boiled wonderland). either way, i
like every single book he's written, and i can't think of
another author who i can say the same for.

the only way for you to know the truth is to find out for
yourself!!!!1111 ;)

Zaphod: yeah, I love the Predator books just as much as I
love the movies and the video games. :D Did you ever read
the one about the asian chick Miko or something like that,
who managed to defeat an Alien queen in meelee combat, so
the predators took her in as one of their own? They gave her
special armor and a mask that would actually fit her (cuz
those blokes are fuckin big) and dredded her her and such...
And she joined them in the hunts... that one was great.

brilliant... easily my favourite writer...
Camus-the outsider
Kafka-(various)

Beckett-... well no wait a minute... it's more the concept
of his works than anything...

of the World by Bill Flannigan... damn, I've read that book
like 4 or 5 times, for some strange reason... not sure why
really, I just love the way you almost feel like you're on
tour with the band, and are zipping off to all these plces
with them... nice exciting read!
