VL AL 5 (track 7) seems to blend perfectly into V-PROC
(track 9)

so why did they jam P.:NTIL in there..

ok if anyone loves draft 7.30 and has at one time or another
acually studied it or read things up on it, plz fill me in,
there are bits of genious programing that i can hear at
certain times, but most of this strange album is still a
mystery to me.

i dont think theres much mystery to the album. ofcoarse its
very intricately produced and well thought out but i dont
think theres any hidden thing you really have to go
excavating for. i really love the album i listen to it
almost everyday when i head to class.

v-proc and surripere are my personal fav. theres just
something exciting about the songs like they take you into
some sort of journey. maybe it has to do with their
unexpected hectic structure - that i find so appealing.

the ending to iv vv iv vv viii is stunning! the way you
think its gonna end with that little high pitched synth line
going flatline, then KCHHHSHKGKRRR!!! flatline again,
ends...
catches you off guard, i just wish it did everytime. im too
aware of it now :(

yeah surripere is quite a journey, everyone would imagine it
differently

i imagine the interior of a really anchient alien pyramid,
and when the reverbed chimes come in an alien craft with
really a really dim lit dronish light illuminates a neon
coating of detailed design on the walls, arches and
endlessly towering pillars. when the beat kicks, it goes
into high gear with whatever you wanna take it from there.

unfortunately thats the problem with all music. when you
start to learn its structure it begins losing its
entertainment value.

once you build a spot for it in your mind, that outlook on
it will never change....

this album was definitly meant as a surpriser for first
listens.

offline ChildrenTalking from United States on 2004-08-05 18:14 [#01296468]

that for sure never changes. i wouldn't want it to.

hmm, its hard to see how much more music can advance after
this album.. i mean in 10 years music is gonna have to start
literally effecting the brain as you listen lol.

like over dosing on theta waves and going into euphoric
states of consciousness *without the help of drugs*

it'd be really good if new idm artists started of at this
point to go into new areas
(not)

its hard to find anything this avante garde. its theoritical
but abstracted to the point that defies most elec. music. i
personally feel no one in the elec. scene can touch them.

interesting fact: i accidentally swallowed my gum, just now
as i was reading gwely mernans's last post and thinking
about draft 7.30. i don't usually chew gum.

this is a great album, but aside from what i have just
shared, i know very little about it.

i dont see where music can go anymore, i mean sure it can
live on and continue to thrive, there will be breakcore
beats that will astound me, a melodic song with synths and
sounds that make me feel all warm inside, but it isnt
progressing.

autechre went way way way too far ahead of their time after
ep7 i think, its just gone nuts, but to me personally, this
has advanced and surpassed all other forms of electronica
(and no i didnt say it was better, im just talking about the
production)

what was my point... bah i forget.

classifie draft under known art historical terms
avant garde is, of course, looking beyond. but was it also
killing the old (hence the military term) and that as
opposed to modernism?

new boc will be obvious,
new vsnares will be obvious
new afx... i dunno, allot of it is different
new ae, i really dont know, it will be a pleasure (or pain)
to find out though.

that's always been said
draft is just very intellectual evolved autechre music;
their style. anyone that makes other dance music can take it
to a high, different, intellectual level. it's happened in
jazz and classical, artists just go and invent new styles,
like eclectic for instance.

The stuff in Reniform Puls (sp?) is quietly mindblowing. The
hidden synth pad in the second half is really awesome.

I think there are much better albums for letting your mind
wonder and leaving you in a state of confusion.

I love it when the fractal beats double up on each other in
suriperre, I start bopping double time at that point

Suriperre is a great track, i don't it is as amazing as some
other tracks they have done but it is a great track.
I think if they do more tracks like this then i might change
my mind about them.
