And i mean mainstream rock. Aside from all the
radiohead & NIN posts that will almost certainly appear in
this thread, what are your favourite "playable on mtv" rock
tracks? I'll start the ball rolling:

- Foo Fighters - Times Like These
- The Distillers - The Hunger
- Kings of Leon - California Waiting
- Hot Hot Heat - Bandages
- The Darkness - Friday Night

I actually feel ashamed of my own musical taste when looking
at the above list, but screw it, there's no secrets on
xltronic. List me up motherfuckers.

Yeah, interpol are pretty alright, i have a single by them
hanging around somewhere. A girl i (vaguely) know is in a
band who supported interpol a few times.

I love the 7/4 and 9/4 timings in the intro/refrain riffs on
that foo fighters song... really well made. shame about the
words!

It's pretty darned good, indeed. I'm not usually a fan of
Teh Rawwwwwwk, but for some reason that track gives me the
neck-chills. And i don't know why.

if this was pop or rap... i'd have no trouble doing a
list... but i'd be really, really hardpressed to give more
than a few examples of mainstream singles from the last few
years that i enjoy... and this is partly because i really
haven't followed pop culture that closely the last few
years... the only time i'm really exposed to it is when i'm
at the bars... which is why i could list pop and hip hop...
so, uh... i'm going to go with stuff that's a bit older...

that song called "I've Got You Where I Want You"... that
song rules... i think it's by the Flys (or something)....
the Deftones-Change (In the House of the Flies)...
SOAD-Toxicity... Hootie! (haha... shut up you bastards! it's
catchy, nostalgic stuff)...

that song.

if the question was: what are some cool songs that COULD
(being realistic about what the masses will and won't like)
be played on mtv, it would be a lot easier to answer....but
perhaps less interesting i suppose...

Yeah i also like the strokes, for my sins. They have some
nice pop songs... "hard to explain" is particularly good.

I really don't know what's being plauyed at mtv atm, prob
some r&b shitty rapperlookalike songs, no rock anymore, they
should bring back the good old days; it was called
headbangers ball if my brains aren't malfunctioning

yep :) and "trying my luck" is really good off of that
album...

2nd album is better tho, i think - with "Under Control" what
a song!

Not heard the second album yet... maybe 30 minutes (if that)
if my sources are correct. Doesn't bother me though, i've
got a bit of a fetish for short albums. It's still on the
"to get" list.

hard to explain is quite a wicked song... and now that i
think about it, so is the new Hives single... as well as
Hate To Say I Told You So
