Can someone explain to me why in Jazz or electronic music
you often find rare japanese releases...is the japanese
governement subsidising overseas artists to release stuff in
their country?

it's an incentive to buy, since it is expensive to export
there

So their government has high tariffs on imported music (cds
etc..) and so artists worldwide will prefer to release a
japanese edition/recorded in Japan to avoid this tariff and
try and sell more records there...is this right...?
