I'm watching 60 Minutes. Basically, they're showing a couple of guys that are, like, SO totally retarded. A 24 year old with the mind of 2-3 year old. Tell him to hold up 3 fingers, and he'll hold up all 10 and spit out random words. It's even funnier because he has this posh English accent, and answered the reporter's questions with enthusiastic yells. Also, an 8 year old kid that doesn't have the co-ordination to feed himself. And they're both blind. When it rains, it pours. But put these dumb bastards in front of a keyboard, tell them to play ''Hey Jude'' as ''Beethoven would have written it'', and they'll improvise some Baroque-ish rearrangement of a McCartney song with all these sweeps and arpeggios and the whole deal. It's UN. CANNY. They played the 8 year old a Burt Bacharach song, and he almost perfectly reproduced it in its entirety after only one listen. Then he muttered some gibberish and and flailed his limbs for no reason. I just found a link to the same story. . Really cool stuff. There's not really any concrete explanation WHY they've got the MADSKILLZ that they do. Just the typical ''music became their language, because they can't blablabala'' pap. It's almost supernatural, to me... utterly bizarre. Some part of their brain feeding off the life energy of other (more important) parts. It's a nice gimmick. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not a musical savant, but I wouldn't mind owning one. Savant, play me some Erik Satie, but do it doo wop style and at triple tempo. CHOP CHOP. |

It just ended. Sucks to your ass-mar. There's a short clip in that link, but for some stupid reason, of all the demonstrations of their remarkable talents that they showed, they picked one of the LEAST impressive. |
