Probably because it's true to say that IDM has well and
truly stagnated as a musical style and probably needs to
cross-pollinate with other genres to progress. Either that
or it has to unexpectedly produce a viable mutation if it's
own. Autechre gave that a go with Confield but it didn't
really take hold as an evolutionary progression of the
genre.

That's the most intense and frightening image i've seen in a
long time. You've scarred me, you bastard.

sidenote: it would be absurd to think that IDM would ever
completely die off.

what i'm expecting mr. danbrusca is for IDM to become more
stipped and basic. not to the point of maybe where it
sounded like it did 5 years ago, but it seems like some much
of it these days it about a bunch of overprocessed,
exorbitant sound wankery/manipulation. richard devine may
like to use 4 computers or whatever to spit out a bass
"drum" sound, but couldn't he just do it with one? or even
one program? or even a drum machine with some pedals? when
people start talking about all the programming they did on
such minute levels to fractions of a sound bit and it sounds
like something i have on my drum machine or something i've
heard on some other cd, that's where i say "please spare me
the details". i'm not saying i appreciate the work that goes
into some music these days, i'm saying alot of it's
pointless. overall, what i'm trying to say is that i don't
give a shit what someone did to make something sound a
certain way. what i care about is how the sound convene into
a a song and how they reflect in that song as a whole.

i said "stipped and basic".

what i meant was "stripped and basic".

and i meant "i'm not saying i DON'T appreciate the work..."

No, i mean mentally scarred... the same kind of mentally
scarred that would result if someone shoved a screwdriver up
my left nostril and wiggled. Either you'll be paying my
psychiatrist bills for the next ten years, or i'll see you
in court.

Admittedly it's very close, but I do think Ilkeston is worse
because it has a higher percentage of chavs and scallies in
it's population.

I shall just sit here all smug in Breaston.

It could be the european court of human rights, or it could
be the warrington under 11s squash court. You'll only know
when the scary letter comes.

And FYI, a donatt is even more scary than a don't. You've
been warned.

can you eat a donatt like a doughnut? or very much unlike a
doughnut?

my grandfather (who comes from Durham) pronounces "doughnut"
as "duffnut", squeezing his eyes in a comical way.

mind you, he said this when I was very young and since then
it has come out he loves The Simpsons. ironic? I don't think
so.

I'm enjoying bands more at the moment too.. but I started
out in the "alternative" guitarmusic corner..

these things go in phases. I just don't care to make big
statements about the musicscene just because I like some
kind of music more at the moment.

and if it lasts longer, maybe my tastes changed. and then
there will be new, great music to explore.

There's such a broad, wide variety of sounds that...

...wait a minute, this isn't the kind of topic to reply
seriously to, is it?

hystorectamy come next to me
and take a few swigs from a gouged chimp egg
jig-sawed and siamese like
belly flop into a maze of hogs

corn curls and pork genitalia
seem to glisten my day right up,
separating forlorn snails from the deactivated wind-socks
throwing hissy fits on command

all ye who misplace coin purses with jupiter's moist
exfolients...
will gash skunks with an axe
and bungee jump from Yugoslavian umbilical cords
into the ditch of your wish

contending with no one
you shall finally converse among the fixed-gazed pharohs
