Yep, there's definitely a ''presence'' there. But I don't think it was integral to their growth as artists at all. The topic is ''does it equal better music''? For them, I don't feel that way. The most obviously drug-centric track they did was Dr. Robert, and it sucked. It was mainly lyrical, though. The track itself could have been on any Beatle album.
The influence of drugs on their tracks that are generally accepted to be the most drug-inspired is way overplayed. Precious few of them were, and the ones that WERE contain inconsequential and incidental details, like marijuana being the subject of a Motown-tinged track.

Better LISTENING experience, sure. I'm sure the first thing they did after finishing up the Lucy in the Sky overdubs was step out onto the Abbey Road roof for a toke, and then come back and put on some Peanut Butter Conspiracy.

defenetly... but it depends on who it has been used. If you never before took drugs that J think that weed is the best source to reciev what you expect. 10000 ideas at the same time and that incredible feeling that you hear the sounds in your music that don`t exist.Oh, and it eliminates shit from your stuff (40sec of looped stuff and stuff)
Cheers!

I've done it stoned a couple of times and it's really... absorbing haha I get really stuck into what I'm doing, but technical stuff does my head in

Making music on mushrooms is one of the best things ever, especially if you're playing "real instruments" (acoustic guitar, piano or whatever). Unfortunately it sounds COMPLETELY RUBBISH in the morning.
