the day after tomorrow was a pretty nice one, but
had its dull moments imo. I wanted more! to name a few:

a. independence day
b. godzilla
c ....

please extend my poll and let me know the good stuff. Great
special effects are required. which one is the best?

I hate disaster movies, they disturb my dreams and impress
me too much. (apart godzilla who was a funny movie)

Apparently "Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie" is the
ultimate disaster movie.

"The Poseidon Adventure"

all kinds of crap like "Meteor", "Deep Impact", etc.

"The Andromeda Strain" is also a kind of preliminary
disaster movie.

you could even see "28 days" as a disaster moophie.

some of them are good. they were best in the '70s though.
the ones being made these days are just more or less CGI
porn.

that said, the '70s disaster films were also showcases for
special effects.. but not the flat CGI kind.

Twister is a kind of disaster movie. One of my old
favourites.

i'm having a hard time thinking of a [natural] disaster
movie that i've really liked.

some movie i saw when i was little about a volcano eruption
in hawaii. a group of people were trying to escape the lava
and they were on a rope bridge and this guy fell in. it was
sad.

another one was a godzilla flick or something, and it was
very very old, this brontosaurus, which was supposed to be a
plant eater i thought, ate this guy, and swung him around
and his girlfriend was screaming. the special effects were
disturbing.

ok, please recommend me some good ones, then.... all i see
is the bad stuff.

just a quick look on google seems to reccomend 'The
Andromeda Strain' as the best but to be honest its in their
nature to be crap films, focusing on special effects and
nothing else. I saw a 'disaster' episode of 'the outer
limits' that had more plot than any disaster movie i have
seen.

I remember Twister... I saw it in the theater, and the
fucking sound system was turned up deafeningly loud. I liked
that movie, Cary Elwes is in it so it can't be that bad (I
even liked ''Robin Hood- Men in Tights!'').

For some reason, I like Deep Impact. Even though Elijah Wood
is in it. I have a profound fear of the end of the world,
and comets/meteorites/asteroids.

if they would've taken the lovestory completely out of deep
impact it would've been pretty ok i guess.
