my moog is in a state so it can't really be used live , so
i need a new synth basically , however is there anything
modern that has that warm sound , or should i just track
down another moog? - a prodigy perhaps?

cheers

another moog.

however.. you COULD get one of those small usb-ish
synth-thingies that kind of look like a small moog (you have
to connect wires and stuff), but it controls and is
controlled by a computer program.. kind of strange, but the
guy in the local shop loved it!!!

don't ask here. 99% of the people here use software.
but you could try the Andromeda. it probably won''t have the
same sound as your moog because a moog has typical sound.
but I know some people with an andromeda. they have dropped
in price too recently. if you wait a bit maybe you may get a
good deal on e-bay. but if I where you I'd get the moog
fixed it will be ALLOT cheaper.

damn! that's a nice looking synth! i remember seeing a pic
from the nin site wit that monster in it, so i guess you
could say trent uses one. though i'm not sure where, could
be a new item on the new album which you'll have to wait to
hear.

acid polic3....boredoms!!!

Andromeda(?) - It's the kind of synth you'll either love or
hate - It's not quite in the league of the super synths
though IMO - Quite a few ppl were dissapointed, and the
envelopes are a little slow, so some bass sounds may sound a
little fluffy.

I'm looking for the Moog sound at the moment.

Studio Electronics make the best clones - The ATC-1 is a 2
oscillator synth, that comes shipped with the Moog ladder
filter as in a Minimoog.

You can also buy replacement filters like the TB-303, ARP
2600, and Oberheim.

About £500 s/h

Only downside is Moog Source style interface, and 2 osc's
instead of the Mini's 3.

The SE-1 is an exact Mini replica though.

Everyone in hiphop uses the Studio Electronics stuff - You
find them in almost every studio these days... Mix presense
and warmth are mind blowing.

Otherwise, on a budget, the Waldorf Pulse has a Moog ladder
filter - VERY close to the Mini's, except a little more
stable.

3 oscillators and memories - Only downside is DCO's instead
of VCO's - So it has a sharper, thinner sound, with less mix
presense than a real Moog.

Very cheap s/h though! Bargain of the century - Sounds a lot
like a Pro One/Moog hybrid - But slightly colder and more
digital than a vintage.

Get something completely different aswell, with the money
you save, by getting a soft synth or a replica. Don't spend
silly money on the name Moog.
Personally, I think Moog is overrated terribly, no-one ever
seems to mention Oberheim in the same terms as Moog.
And most people wouldn't wear ARP or EMS T-shirts either!

No, get a cheap Moogish device/vsti and get a Pulse with the
money saved, because they are very good. Or a Waldorf
Microwave, or something unmoog-like.

On no accounts buy the very overpriced Voyager or Andromeda,
unless you really like it. Then still don't get the voyager.
Bob Moog is a cheeky money maker. £220 for a classic "Big
Briar MF-103" phaser!! I can get all the parts and make my
own in a few hours for under 30 quid easily!

Listen to J Swift on this one, he is a learned individual
when it comes to this sort of thing. I am merely
opinionated.

J swift, I'm looking for a good sound proccessor. Like the
sherman filter but a little less noisey. Something that can
totally change the sound. Something really analogue. I
modded my 202 for filter In and I loved that before it got
fried. I am also blown away by the EMS vocoder 5000's
sounds. Not a huge vocoder fan, but I love that machine's
sound. An ems synthi would probably be perfect, but alas.
Something really gritty and plasticy sounding. Any ideas?
