Press release for new album.. Feel free to distribute:::::
"The new album from sound-surrealist Ergo Phizmiz "WHITE LIGHT WHITE HEAT" is available now exclusively as an mp3 download from www.ergophizmiz.com.
Ergo Phizmiz's radical reinvention of the Velvet Underground's 1967 masterpiece concludes the series of plunderphonics-based projects that began with "The The Interpretations by Uutske Buutske", "The System of a Down Sessions Volume 1" and continued on into the acclaimed "Ergo Phizmiz & his Orchestra plays Aphex Twin". These releases took their source material and completely re-imagined it, forming the originals into shapes and forms that were surprising, always inventive and often hilarious. Under the Phizmiz-Knife, System of a Down became oriental folk-music shot through with Dixieland, Mozart and exploding trombones, and the songs of The The morphed into bastard-pop & airy electronica. His reinventions of the music of Aphex Twin (arranged entirely for acoustic instruments) transformed the music of Richard James into a fucked-folk-music that took in everything from Gamelan to mechanical music to bar-room jazz, the album being hailed as some of the best reworkings of Aphex Twin, not least by Mr James himself.
This series of works concludes with this insane reworking of the Velvet Underground. The entirety of "White Light White Heat" is given the Phizmiz treatment. Sounding something like a brass band, a folk group and a drunken electronica outfit being fed through a giant clockwork malfunctioning machine, the songs of the Velvet Underground are twisted, manipulated and thrown around to produce a completely fresh look at the original material. Following on from the other projects in this series, there are no samples from the original source material used, but rather the music is tret as if a seed which is then built into a new flower. Or garden.
Arranged for Banjo, Bass Guitar, Ruler, Music Box, Violin, Toy Piano, Electric Guitar, Accordion, Squeezebox, Euphonium, Ukulele, Kazoo, Xylo

phone, Pixiphone, Uumskither, Mbira, Pod, Delay, Turntable & Percussion, this is the music of the Velvets as you've never heard before, and never likely will again! The record is shot through with the trademark Phizmiz sense of humour, rooted in the Dada, Surrealism and Nonsense that is a constant in Ergo's work.
The album also features a very special guest appearance from Dirty Duck, WFMU's own streamlined and filthy-minded aquatic bird, who gives a fresh reading of John Cale's "The Gift" monologue.
This album is available absolutely free in mp3 format from www.ergophizmiz.com - feel free to distribute it in whatever form you want."

Good lord. I may have to download this, since "white light white heat" is my all time favourite velvets album. I'd be interested to hear what you've done to "sister ray".

Relax to the soothing sounds of Ergo Phizmiz and his Orchestra giving you all the hits of popular duo Aphex Twin. It's all here, through classical, party and pop standards - a great introduction to the orchestral easy listening world of Ergo Phizmiz.

I don't usually defend my music from people saying stupid things about it, but I've seen people comment on this now too many times for comfort ....

Yeah. I have to agree with Mr Phizmiz when he insinuates that most of you aren't really very clever or interesting.

This is actually kind of cool. Interesting arrangement on Sister Ray, though it eventualyl starts to suck. The title track is a barrel of laughs, though!
And I'm certainly going to feel free to distribute it in whatever form I want. Does that mean I can sell it, though?
