I have all his albums on MP3, but I never got around to listening. I'm off today, so I thought I'd get to know his stuff better. All I have to say is HOLY FUCK!!!!!! Almost done Supermodified, guess I'll try Bricolage or Permutation next. |

i adore amon tobin. he is the first stickly electronic/dhing artist i have listened to. i bought superfmodified and loved it so much i got a bit more on the internet. my personal favourite is probably golfer vs. boxer or wires and snakes. i dont know! hes so amazing! could anyone actually explain to me how he makes his music. from a to z. like where the sounds come from and how he mixes them. thanx a lot. |

That's quite a question :) He does thank Steinberg and Apple on Supermodiefied .. so I presume he uses Cubase, on some Apple computer. Sample the drums (either himself, or a friend/session drummer/or off some cd) - then program the drums, either mechanically on a midi grid/or a midi drum pad/midi drum >.< ? This is speculation tho - |

I getting into his stuff now.... so far, my fave track is Switch from Permutation... so damn jazzy! This guy can do it all! As for MP3s, I don't give a flying fuck anymore, I just want music. Soundwaves that are pleasureable to my ears. I don't care about the foil that CDs are made of. Or the vinyl! I want the fucking music, and I don't care how I get it. Life is too short for me to waste cash on that stuff, I'm not gonna do it anymore. Music is all I want, the discs can suck me!!! I wasted so much money on crappy old Nirvana and Pearl Jam and Metallica CDs, stupid me. MP3s are a godsend!!!!!!!! Viva la Cheap-ass-ness!!!! |
