I have given up with consoles. It might be quite interesting however to see what it will be like.

Even though it's not cool to say so (corporation, not indie enough, whatever), I love Sony. They've absolutely DESTROYED the competition this gen, and they didn't just buy their way to victory. Fucking smart, whereas Nintendo has been ridiculously stupid, and all Microsoft have going for it is processing power (and not for long). PS2, by the end of its lifespan, will have the greatest library of games ever for a console. Bank on that, bitches. They've already rendered Nintendo's recent platformers obselete.
PS3 is supposed to have the most horsepower of the 3 next gen... but it may be released after the others. No head start on this third try... gonna be interesting.

obviously you haven't looked at the chart with the level of eye vision that I have, it looks to me that it will be a Christmas '05 release in Japan, or maybe early '06. I can't see there being much difference in release times between the XBox2 and PS3.

Could be a good system but with the fuck ups of the PSX Sony could be losing their edge. They can make good systems but they're starting to pile so much into them now. It's just stupid. They're changing consoles from being consoles and into some ultra media centre thingy which is stupid. A console should be a console.
Hopefully it'll be a good system though.

WRONG!
They have backed away from that. The PS3 is going to be a pure games console.

You're right, also the world TOOL in the picture helps.
I'm worried about (Ver.1), (Ver.2) and (Premier). What the hell does that mean? 3 version of the machine?
Or am I being stupid and what it actually means is:
Premiere of the machine at the end of this year with a showing at E3 and TGS (WTF is that?) with the first version of the tools released at the beginning of 2005 and a second version in the second half of 2005?
Hey? I could be right or I could be wrong.

Tools are the programming tools released to the developers. So it will be a 2006 release for the console. TGS is the Tokyo Games Show.

Gotta be skeptical, though. Studies (by me, from my ragged memory) show that release dates are the Ted Bundy of the numbers world... they look trustworthy and inviting, but you will get raped and die. All signs up to now have been pointing towards Nintendo and M$ getting out of the gates first, but I guess Sony's got other plans now. Maybe they realize that they could REALLY do some major damage... since the only hope of them being usurped now would be a phenomenal opening campaign by a competitor. Nintendo seems excited about the ''Revolution''.
Sony has been known to embellish the facts more than a smidgeon... ''Toy Story 2 graphics'', anyone? But if this DOES turn out to be true and they stick to it, I'm happy. I think Xbox2 is going to see a late '05 release. If they release after Sony, it's hopeless, they know that. Horsepower is all they have now, and that aspect isn't going to mean as much come next gen.
As for the ''Multimedia Renaissance Man'' angle... geez, hardware developers have been bullshitting us about that since the 3DO and the Philips CD-I. ''PS2 has DVD playback? TUBULAR, DUDE!'' In the end, it's all about the games. This system will deliver, don't you worry your pretty little hiney off.

Sony are masters of hype and cool in most things they do, they could still do major damage to says of the next Xbox and GC generations by simply timing press releases well, much in the same way they did against the Dreamcast.

Awesome. I had heard about this for a while. If its good enough I might get it . I'm not a big PS fan but this console does sound interesting. Comparison to my gamecube its good to have a PS for more racing games, or stuff like that to show the graphics and my gamecube for rpgs.

For all the talk about Japan being the be-all and end-all of gaming, looking at sales statistics over there, the best selling games and whatnot, it's a laugh.
AND THEIR FPS' SUCK ASS
