i'm working on a track. working with Yoshi, an emcee from Brighton. I've only incorporated half of his vox so far.
just kinda stuck. i think it sounds ok, but maybe it needs more? less? keep in mind, i've not mastered this yet.
any advice, comments appreciated.
it's temporarily called
untitled unfinished ! thanks

man this is sick... his vox are a little muffled in the mix, maybe bring them up a bit more coz its hard to make out what he's saying...
musically tho i think its really cool... theres some nice resonany melody in the background that needs to come out a bit more too, are you using compression on these things? i would recommend compressing a little harder and boosting the highs on the vox, or mids.. the track is fucking mad, if anything, too much is going on... but i really like it.

It's pretty good as it is. Maybe a little work on the vocals
(production wise) is needed.

I think there are a few things that need doing, but teapot already said those so i agree with him on it.

yeah i know what you are saying about it being "busy." thats kinda my big problem, the beats and stuff competing with the vox a bit. but maybe if i make some changes to the vox like you say. i was thinking of adding some subtle chorus/reverb or maybe just bringing out the mid/high like you say. something to make them brighter.
I'm just not accustomed to working with a vocalist so i am very very inexperienced with mixing/mastering vocals.
thanks for the tips though. i'll keep whittling at it.

that beat i made a while back. i don't remember the exact process. but i think i just made a simple loop in Fruity Loops then exported it to Ableton live where i did all the tweaking and breaks.

fix the vocals. when you reintroduce the beat in the middle double time it for a few bars. Introduce an instrument in the latter section at a similar frequency to the vocalists voice. other than that, interesting track.

the latter section will have another verse i think. Yoshi just hasn't written or recorded it yet.
but thanks for the other tips. working on fixing the vocals currently. i think it sounds better already. i might tweak the beat out a bit more like you say, try it out anyway.
yeh thanks! you guys have been quite helpful.

hrm... you mean like no beats? just the vox?
or just the vox w/ effects?
i could do that. wonder what it would sound like...
but i like to do beats.
i like beats. it's what i like to do. and big whirring engine noises. i like that too.
