No I'm not saying that Sartre is the only philosopher worth.
Damn followups. I was just suggesting something to empiricus
he maybe would be interested in. The whole nausea of
existence etc.... Just relax buddy.

why was my reply worthless??

i was simply stating an opinion! why does it piss you off
man?

i didn't feel i had to go on for ages explaining why..
but i will now because obviously you are trying to make a
fooll out of me or something wich i still don't understand
why... and if you know is "work" well, you would have got
mylittle hints in the pevious post.

don't you agree it's hell to talk about stuff like this one
here? i find it hard ...

and why the presumptuous : " there's no point in
continuing discussion with you on this subject on any level.
"

fuck i still don't get my mistake.... i guess it's best
not say what you think of someone without backing it up,
wich i can agree. it's just that for this case it can be
long and really needs a conversation...

peace earthleakage? i mean't no harm. fuck i just don't
like him. :)

"Maybe you would like to learn what the word essence
means?"

ill explain it to you silly man. Man first of all exists,
encounters himself, surges up in the world — and defines
himself afterwards. If man as the existentialist sees him is
not definable, it is because to begin with he is nothing. He
will not be anything until later, and then he will be what
he makes of himself. Thus, there is no human nature, because
there is no God to have a conception of it. Man simply is.
So "existence precedes essence"

what a fucking idiot

You are regurgitating Sartre to me. I was trying to see
whether you were capable of thinking for yourself.
Obviously not.

In terms of existentialism I disagree strongly with Sartre's
view that there is no such thing as human nature. But you
are entitled to beleive everything you read if that's what
you choose.

I find it quite sad the ease with which you resort to
personal insults though.

I am in agreement with the other people I will still argue
just to find out exactly what they really think beause it

i would say that animals are different than humans in that
humans have the possibility of being artistic or creative in
unnecessary ways and seem to have much more of an ability to
understand and compare themselves to the rest of the animal
kingdom because we have the knowledge of and more of a means
of communicating. humans are more able to feel empathy
towards other species. animals mainly are only "empathetic"
to their own kind, or appear as such to other species in
symbiotic relationships. animals seem to ruthlessly kill
without a possibility of consideration to, or actual
rational understanding of their prey. i can't imagine a cat
understanding that when it is brutally killing a mouse, it
can feel pain much alike their own..and i can't imagine the
cat regarding the mouse as any more intelligent or more able
to feel than the average bowl of "cat chow". the cat may
prefer food with a beating heart, but i don't think that's
an effect of them being deliberately cruel, it's just the
way they perceive and fit into the world. humans can
understand themselves in a way much different than the
majority of other animals, and maybe that is their niche, in
some fucked-up way. even if everything is "random", in that
it wasn't created by an all-knowing or eternal force of some
kind, man still gained it's differentiating intelligence
through the same process that fine-tuned everything that we
can experience.
in my opinion, or belief, i feel there very well could be
some type of underlying force or "point" to it all. it seems
very strange and illogical that everything we know just came
out of emptiness, and its only point is to run its course
and be destroyed, and then possibly run through the same
cycle again. it seems like it would be much easier for there
to be just nothing.. no matter or energy.. or for it to not
need to create something out of itself. it seems like the
idea of existence comes from something akin to the human
mind.
these are just my thoughts/opinions. i can't prove or
disprove anythi

i am intruiged by the inherant desperation of a human to
project his subjectivity upon others, moreso the variance of
the different levels of desperation. the nature/nurture, the
athiesm & nilhism, there are so many areas that one
individual can never comprehend never mind discuss in
detail. at some point you MUST choose something over
something else however despearate you are to want to feel
neutral or in my own personal vocabulary "zentastic" ;)

i think a big part of the fun of being a human is
being able to discuss in great detail things that we can't
even begin to really fully comprehend.

Albert Camus said the only real philosphical question was
the question of suicide. Why continue to live an absurd
existence, a life in which the world we are confronted with
offers us no meaning? Why do we suffer and voluntarily
continue to suffer?

hey thats funny, thats exactly what i think

empiricus:

Am I the only one who is utterly perplexed by myself and the
world that surrounds me??

me too, sometimes it scares me. its a strange emotion im
feeling. i do not intend to kill myself to stop the
nonsense. it seems that everyone dies. you cannot tell for
sure what happens when one dies, so ill stick to living for
now. while im alive, why not make the best of it, altough
everything is so strange

hell, i might be a bunch of code lines in a computer.. or
this might all be a dream created for the purpose of
entertaining yourself.. like a machine that lets you live a
life in a second or sumthin.

i really don't want earthleakage to have a go at me again, i
just find Sartre never could stick to something.... drifting
from dogma to dogma he then decided he was a "total

seemed to be always discrediting his previous stuff, giving
himself excuses but also stating that he is a lot "better"

I am a sensitive artist...
I am a sensitive artist.
Nobody understands me because I am so deep.
In my work I make allusions to books that nobody else has
read,
Music that nobody else has heard,
And art that nobody else has seen.
I can't help it
Because I am so much more intelligent
And well-rounded
Than everyone who surrounds me.
I stopped watching tv when I was six months old
Because it was so boring and stupid
And started reading books
And going to recitals
And art galleries.
I don't go to recitals anymore
Because my hearing is too sensitive
And I don't go to art galleries anymore
Because there are people there
And I can't deal with people
Because they don't understand me.
I stay home
Reading books that are beneath me,
And working on my work,
Which no one understands
I am sensitive...
I am a sensitive artist...
