If this isn't real "old" BoC then I sincerely wish to
congratulate the imitator, not just for the effort of
creating a staggering 50+ tracks in BoC style, but also for
creating rather excellent BoC style tracks, some of which
are among my favorites already.
I admit it was a slow process of getting into this, I was
actually on the verge of deleting it from my system after a
quick listen or two, when I decided to burn it on CD and
give it another chance. So I took it to work, still kept
skipping songs impatiently the first few times, but then I
started noting a few gems, and from there it started growing
on me to the point of "damn I'm loving this".

offline aquinas on 2004-06-18 21:03 [#01246864]

from what i've heard, it's a mix that boc did for close
friends in tape format. one of the "friends" leaked it out.
i've heard from some people that it's a mix of their own
stuff, and other peoples' stuff. it's pretty easy to guess
which ones were done by boc.

anyway, some of my favourite boc tunes are on this. i will
get it tattooed is amazing. all the other short little
vignettes are brilliant too.

offline Rambling Madman from the future (United Kingdom) on 2004-06-19 08:16 [#01247127]
Points: 1492 Status: Regular

seriously........ forest moon is one of the most un-boc like
tracks out of all these tracks & it's also not a great track
imo.....................................

Davie Addison, Finity, Alpha Rainbow & Kiteracer 2 on the
other hand, are amongst my favourite BOC tunes of all time.
Sublime BOC minimalism at it's best.

offline Atli from Reykjavík (Iceland) on 2004-06-19 08:47 [#01247135]

Sure, all those songs you mention are good but, christ,
listen how the friggin' melody evolves and reaches its
climax at about 3:56. I can't believe you don't get this :).

offline Rambling Madman from the future (United Kingdom) on 2004-06-19 09:04 [#01247143]

there's only so long I can listen to that arp........ 3:56
you say?...... ugh, I cant do it...... sorry = )

people.

i know, the beat may get boring after a while but imo the
melody so makes up for it and i stop focusing on the beat.
it's always a matter of taste and i guess i have to respect
your opinion. prick :)

I said the arp gets boring (arp = arpeggio), not the
beat...... but now you mention it, your right about that
aswell.

you sign your name as "prick"?............ don't be so hard
on yourself...... I can think of many more appropriate name
options for you.

offline Atli from Reykjavík (Iceland) on 2004-06-19 10:07 [#01247177]

Wasn't familiar with that shortform...
Hehe...if it were a signature it would be like this:
"Text.
Prick."
It wouldn't be in the same line...but yeah, i get the joke.

'solarium' sounds like a perfect lead-up to 'the devil is in
the details.'

offline Rambling Madman from the future (United Kingdom) on 2004-06-19 10:58 [#01247239]
Points: 1492 Status: Regular

yeah.... 'I Love My New Shears' is another beauty....... I
prefer BOC's old stuff to alot of thier more recent stuff,
altho Geogaddi as an album is amazing. Why hasn't this stuff
been released?

offline X-tomatic from ze war room on 2004-06-21 09:25 [#01249723]

Ok, so the tracklisting in SLSK is a right mess, does anyone
know which is supposed to be the correct vol.1 & vol.2
tracklisting?
On vol.2 There's one starting with "solarium" and another
starting with "we've started up".
Same shit with vol.1 which either ends on 17 tracks with "m9
- original nlogax" or on 30 with "nova scotia robots" or
different still.
Both listing are different and it's quite annoying. So if
anyone knows the deal on this one let it be known please
'cos this is awkward stuff.

really,.......any combination that suits you will work.

the tracklistings were made by other people (who had the
demos) and encoded and they got raped from there.....

the track lists i have are: (vol. 1 - starting with
"Spectrum" and ending on technically 28 (but really 30)
"nova scotia robots" because some of the people stuck the
shorter songs together as one.) and (vol. 2 - starting with
"we've started up" and ending on 35 with "powerline
misfortune.")

i believe this contains just abut every demo
track,......i'll check again,...but I am satisfied with
this.

Yes, I noticed that sometimes 2 songs were stuck together,
I'll just download any track I don't have already and make
up my own list.
Current few old tunes favorites:
- Boqurant
- 5-9-78
- statue of liberty (sounds like a 70's horrorflick
soundtrack,the crappy title doesn't fit)
- mansel
- Iced Cooly Beatnik
- To the wind
- Alpha Rainbow
- Northern Plastics
- Dave (I'm a real traditionalist)
- Fly in the pool
- mukinabath
- kiteracer 2
- I love my new shears
- Sac

— “Word up”. No matter how real it is, I
think it's the best track to ever come out under their name.
