go to school for it. get a degree in music education.
youll have to learn how to at least half decently play all of the instruments in the orchestra

flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, sax, drums, strings etc,
because if you want to teach an ensemble, you need to know how to show the kids how to play.
assuming youre talking about being a band teacher... if you want to teach theory... then thats college... and youll need a masters at least

Don't do it below degree level. You'll depress yourself into the floor. Music at GCSE or below is just a piss about on cheap keyboards.

Heh, you went to a better school than me then. Music at our school consisted of playing bad 70s pop with one finger on casios. I spent most of the time listening to aphex with some friends in a large cupboard.

do the BTEC National Diploma in Music Tech, then do a teaching course
then go back and teach the BTEC :)
