Get some Neko Case. Her furnace room lullaby album is beyond
amazing. Alt.country i suppose, but definitively not
shit.

there's plenty of interesting electronica out there...im not
excited about it as much as i used to be either, but
occasionally i still get around a brilliant album.

The lesser-heard electronic artists are often more
interesting. Take out a subsription to The Wire and
hit slsk. You won't regret it.

i am really sorry but i don't like it at all (speed it up &
add breakcore beats, maybe... )

Hehe, there's an interesting concept if ever i heard one.
Seriously though, get the wire. It's opened my eyes to all
sorts of music i never would have heard before.

in fact i think about paying something to the library near
where i live to borrow classical & jazz cds like an old
cunt...

btw: i like fennesz (is he still "electronica"?), on the
cover of this mag

Fennesz uses electronics in his fabulous music, so i guess
he's "electronica." You cannae go wrong with a nice bit of
classical or jazz though, it's a nice break from people
farting around on laptops.

Recommends: Erik Satie, John Cage, Dmitri Shostakovich, John
Coltrane, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis. Not exactly
"underground" or contemporary, but hella nice all the same.

Music should just be the soundtrack to your life, not the be
all and end all of it. Relax, go out for a walk, have a
laugh.

i'm pretty relaxed!!! i'm listening to "spangle" by seefeel
:)
thanx for the recommandation : i listen 2 lots of cage,
satie
shostakovitch? err... only heard jazz suite2 (great) &
symphony for leningrad, it's a bit heavy/ over "produced",
no?

on seefeel : warp should reissue their cds, what a shame...

The kronos quartet version of shostakovich's quartet no 8
(on the album black angels) is mindbogglingly good. Not
heard symphony for leningrad.

Right now my favorite music is the Sam Prekop solo album. So
gentle and dreamy. The Sea and Cake stuff is also good.

As for electronic music I still like house, downtempo, some
DnB, dancey shit, funky shit and folky shit (e.g., The
Books). But yeah I've had enough IDM and pretentious
abrasive anti-music for now.

Electronica rocks.

Though I've been listening to a ton of garbage
''experimental'' electronic music for the last two days, for
some reason. But there's such a deep pool of great albums to
dive back into whenever I'm ready.

deepspace: the wire is awesome... as a source of musical
information, it is more than worth it--even though you will
be called a snob by people because you read it
fleet: i love sam prekop's voice
happy cycling: it's certainly not a very beautiful voice,
but i think it works well with his lyrics and music... that
said people overrate him when they say stuff like Aeroplane
was the best album of the last ten years (as the magazine
Magnet did)

dont listen to it then. sell all the music that you've
bought and go find something new to listen to. don't moan
about it here, its the wrong place to moan about hating that
kind of music.
