it's going to be a 'smackdown' at Sonar between Hawtin and
Villalobos

yes, should be fun! I'll tell you who out minimalizes who
in the techno stakes.

Ive heard the label minimal or micro or something used to
describe alchachofa . however i dont agree. I think there is
a grip of juicy ass sounds on that album , there was an
interesting review of it @ skykickings' blog however i disagree
with most of that as well . claims of "limp rythms" and
"deemphasizing the core" , on and on and so on and so forth
- what a bunch of bologna . the record flat out bangs , and
is in no way cold to my ears.

I know i have had several mp3s of his music along the way ,
but thats about it. Maybe it was one album of mp3s i had , i
dont particularly recall. I shall investigate it this
evening , is it some good stuff ?

he did a series of girls names on 12" that was amazing!!
Rivals the best of ritchie in my opinion. I've seen him
live a couple of times and it's really fun.

The reviews under his discogs.com page , are intriguing and
sound very promising. Surely , I will be listening to him
soon./

alcachofa is a great record.
some really surprising ideas come into play for a
minimal-techno/click-house LP. all pulled off with style.
there's a proper groove running throughout.

riche v ricardo is about the only thing on at sonar that i'm
really disappointed to miss out on.

found a double vinyl set of alcachofa remixes in a record
store the other day. some really interesting reworkings of
'easy lee'.
