I have a feeling that this is pretty fucking close to
impossable. Is there a realistic way that this could be
possible?

That's how i do it if i need money.

I owe the bank. They set a date for me to pay them or i will
most likely be going to court.

I am really not that good at handeling money. I already have
a crediting agency after me. This kind of stuff makes me
nervous.

:/

take a long road trip. knock over some liquor stores along
the way. then when you get somewhere interesting, just lay
low.

Don't ever believe one of these "consolidate your debts"
programmes though. They'll screw you thirteen thousand
different ways on the interest.

four years.

i'd better keep my £4.20 an hour job until then!

Borrow of a willing friend or relative, maybe? Some
grovelling may be in order.

he isn't asking you to pay it.

neither is he asking you for some lesson in morality - he
knows he shouldn't have spent that money.

Ha ha, I'm writing an essay for a mate's website at the
moment on how the average Briton is fiscally retarded. I'm
no accountant/mathmetician, but it doesn't take a great deal
of nous to spot:

Incomings > Outgoings = Trouble.

People can almost always cut back more. Fuck, I've lived on
literally nothing but rice/pasta for a week (undercook them-
it makes you feel more full), didn't go out for a couple of
months etc. when times were hard. People who get most in
debt aren't the really poor, they tend to be people of
low-middle income whose lifestyle far outstrips their means.
If you're in debt stop buying designer clothes, drinking,
smoking, drugs, using prostitutes, buying music, going to
the cinema, eating out. Anything that is not
essential to your survival (be it short or long term) can be
eliminated.

people repeating this over and over.

its all simple mathematics you learn aged 10. ignorance is
never an excuse. credit is forced down your neck in
advertising and if you're gullable to buy into this
capitalist material get now pay later 21st century living
you only have yourself to blame.

I was not aware our dear virginpusher resided in Britain?

I did not talk about people in other countries precisely
because I accept that people in some other countries cannot
help being in massive debt (you think people in the third
world are just lazy/poorly disciplined?). I feel that
Britain's welfare system makes it quite hard to get into
really serious debt through absolutely no fault of your own
(although, as always there are a few instances where that
occurs).

Although it won't help Virginpusher in this case, my best
tip for breaking out of debt is "short and hard"- it's a lot
easier to cut back to a bare minimum to survive for a month
and tolerate that, knowing it'll soon be over and you can
be back to comparative normality, rather than to stop doing
something you really like (like going to gigs/pubs etc.) for
6 months. Over that sort of time frame you're far more
likely to have lapses.

I'm saying he needs to pay up a fair amount in a couple of
days - he doesn't need a plan that takes a month.

neither does he need to hear how he got into this problem -
he knows that.

common sense is great, but sometimes it's just not the right
time for it.

True, actually. Cutting down on EVERYTHING is easier than
cutting down on one specific aspect that you enjoy... you
just tend to focus more on that aspect. The cash rolls in
pretty quickly too.

Yes, credit companies and banks are at least partly to blame
(and it's bad for the economy for the populance as a whole
to be in debt heavily, so the government should discourage
it too), but ultimately responsibility resides with the
individual concerned. They sign the paper.

QRTER: Ooops- just saw he was in Liverpool! I always confuse
him with Roygbivcore for some reason :-/

But this is a "cash quickly please" situation... borrowing,
selling, theft from grannies etc might be the only solutions
really.

Virginpusher: If you know (and can prove) you'll have the
money within a month to pay the debt, e.g. pay check coming
in in two weeks time, go to your bank. They'll usually
approve a short term, low interest (caluclated by the day-
so make sure it is short term!) loan, even if you are
heavily in debt/at your overdraft limit. The reason being,
it's not in their interest for you to be declared bankrupt-
any money you owe them currently would be "wiped clean" if
that were the case.
