how do you feel about this.
because to be honest.... i laughed, and i now know i am
going straight to hell and i feel fucking awful.

In Oregon doctor prescribed suicide is legal as long as they
are terminally ill (diagnosed to die in 6 months). I guess
that doesn't apply to a quadriplegic.

I skimmed over it, and though I'm not a big promoter of
assisted suicide, I'm not one to prolong someone's
suffering. If this person is for real, they have the right
to end their life with dignity.

well

1. if it's a joke I don't find it that funny or well
excecuted
2. if it's real it's sad

but if you laugh you probably shouldn't feel too bad because
it's the internet and can be very impersonal, especially
with text only

and we've been desensitized so much in our lifetime

if you laughed at her to her face I think that might be a
little awful

yeah yer right.... i mean if she honestly wants to die that
bad, she should be thinking of ways to kill herself instead
of making a site about it.
there's gotta be a way she could do it herself, right?

"Everything becomes so public when your body is almost
destroyed, You have no autonomy. You're full of bags and/or
tubes, your bodily functions are not within your control.
You're completely paralyzed, you are just a pile of flesh.
Yes, a pile of flesh.

Imagine an almost lifeless organic structure. That's me!
Locked in a body and that body locked in a room. Concrete
walls that never talk to you. A television: who can watch TV
for years. A radio: nothing more than the TV. You soon come
to hate all the images and detest all the sounds. I wake up
in this cage everyday, disoriented, desperate, sicker than I
have ever been. No feeling in my arms and legs, from my
upper chest down; only a vague sense that my whole body is
entrapped forever. No movement left or right, up or down. I
just have to hope that my mother will come very quickly to
change the position of my body. She can do this today;
tomorrow I just don't know."

If they really wanted to die they'd have done it. Even if
they have no use of their arms and legs it's possible.

Probably a sick joke.

If I'm ever in a situation like this, I'd like to think I'd
be allowed to just be done with it all. It's frustrating
that a mobfull of afterlife-maniacs hold such a powerful say
in whether or not I am justified to end my own life.

giginger > yes, how?
it's easy to say you always can.

no, this situation is just atrocious, and it's far from
being the only case...
i sincerely believe and hope assisted suicide will be
accepted in some years, maybe it will take a dozen of years
but if you're against euthanasia / assisted suicide for
cases like this you obviously don't realize what they're
enduring.
(and fuck religion if religion would be their argument to
let people "live" this way... there are countless scandalous
things in the bible anyway)

How?

I am clothed a glove-like thing on my right hand which
keeps my index finger firm. Thus I can type very slowly
moving my right elbow and shoulder. That's how I prepared
this web page.

So they can control their wheelchair I would assume? That's
all I'm saying.

yes.
not a particularly good nirvana song.
turned up on the beavis and butthead album i seem to
recall.

was an outtake from in utero. and unless i'm mistaken, "i
hate myself and want to die" was the working title for the
album.

think the song was going to be a b-side, but geffen vetoed
that shortly after cobain died as a direct result of hating
himself.
apparently he'd said the title was a joke about how everyone
always thought of him as a depressive.
methinks he was lying to throw people off the scent.

I don't get what you mean. If he has enough control of an
arm to type a webpage, no matter how slowly, then he has
enough to control an electric wheelchair. Those things can
be breath controlled. He could be pretty mobile. Drive
himself down to a lake or straight onto a busy road or
something. This site just seems fake to me and it's a sick
joke that's not in the slightest bit funny.

well i think his mom and friends should be able to help by
getting him right medicins or a gun or whatever to let him
kill himself
getting him an electric wheelchair is not real practical
because he lives in a poor country apparantly

If people want to read Isaac Asimov, then let them do it.
There's no need to start a protest against him. That's my 2
cents.
