it's quite good, I quite like it. it get's a bit slow towards the end.
features one of the alltime great lines of sci-fi and/or all cinema.
the soundtrack is pretty good too - especially the credit sequence works well because the music builds up quite frantically (it shows in pictures how the world builds up and becomes more and more industrial until we arrive at the point of the film, with almost all natural resources used up and the planet being completely over-populated).
I have it on dvd and the commentary track (with the director and the lead actress) is pretty awful - the actress saying how important this film still is blah blah blah.

this film is superb!! fantastic, and believable vision of future dystopia.
Annoyingly it clashes with "The hustler" on bbc2. There's been CRAP-ALL on tv all week, and then there's 2 quality films which clash with each other, after midnight on a sunday- ffs!!!
Seen it a million times anyway...

Good flick. It'd never happen though... the government would oestrogenise the water supply before it came to that sort of situation.

"The Omega Man" used to be one of my faves
Charlton Heston has done some top films. It's a shame he's such a weirdo in real life.
Does anyone remember him reading the "Cop Killer" lyrics - ha ha ha, that was fucking class

oh that's cool. i don't remember the score that well - it's been a while since the last time i've seen the movie.
but i think planet of the apes is kind of a subversive film with more layers than your average sci fi movie. i think a lot of people dismiss it as people in monkey costumes doing weird shit, but it actually has a message. i think it's well-done.
and for the record, the extent to which i enjoy charlton heston is limited strictly to these three films, A Touch Of Evil, and not at all in real life.

in the seventies, there was a whole bunch of more or less intelligent sci-fi picks, including "planet of the apes" and "soylent green".
