it sounds very correct.. very POPish at first wich im not too in love with, towards the end i really start to like it, the strings and the flute is very nice, a bit RPG gameish and a bit Chineesish =D
i think the bass and guitars could be a bit paned.. maybe some chorus on the guitar and hmm dunno something to make the bass sound fater.
overall the song is nice, it works well

i wrote it to be played by actual people on actual instruments, so i didnt do anything production wise on this mp3
but thanks for listening
(btw, its in a C# Major pentatonic with the flute part working around an F Minor pentatonic, which is probably what you are thinking is the "chinese" sound)

Very nice, Ronnie; I look forward to hearing an mp3 of it "live" - I trust that is on the cards?
btw - are you sure that the pentatonic has major and minor? I'm sure it is C# Pentatonic rather than C# Major Pentatonic :)

well - i referred to it as a C# Major Pent. because it has a third spaced 4 semitones away from the first - unlike a minor which has the flatted third and flatted fifth which are present when you use the same notes starting at the F (the third in the C# pentatonic) for the first of the pentatonic F minor
so the C#m Pent is: C# D# F G# A#
and the F(M) Pent is F G# A# C# D#
but you probably already know that and can educate me about some more stuff.

well - a pentatonic scale is usually when you just take a normal scale and remove certain notes - the most common minor pent removes the second, the sixth - and the most common major pent removes the fourth and the seventh.
the fact that they are usually arranged like that allows you to use a minor and major pentatonic together where the major is the base and the minor's first is on the major's third. this adds a wonderful dimension to the piece and gives the minor melody real emotion when contrasted with the major harmonies.

Umm I have to say I don't really like this kind of music. Although if I did like this kind of music, then I would like this track, as it's very well composed and overall very nice!

yeah, the first link worked for me too. just right click and "Save as" if you're on IE.
This is excellent, Cort. Such wonderful melody. I actually welcome the absence of drums. But well developed melody. This band already sounds promising.

heheh - thanks for the kind words.
and we'll see what happens with an album, my grandpa is good friends with a guy who runs a high-end professional recording studio so my chances of producing something that sounds top-notch are pretty high.

another song that i just wrote.
this one is a blues-ish song which sounds very dark.
in the actual live version, the second and fourth verses will be accompanied by the female vocalists telling a bone-chilling story of a soldier who dies on juno beach. also, the last portion of the song which has the stop-time chords and the rhythm bass will have an electric guitar solo.

Hi, I have reconsidered my position regarding my opinion of the aforementioned track. I have now decided it is a rather pleasent RPG style romp. It would be a highly enjoyable listen with a glass of wine and some friends around a roaring fire accompanied by crack cocaine.
