i need to get some new accoustic guitar strings, can anyone
recommend some? or ill have to get ernie ball like i usually
do

i use light-medium 12s because i like the bassy sound.

anyone else as anally-retentive as me about the difference
between 11s & 12s?

D'Addario 12-53 phosphor bronze works well for me. Though I
might try the 80/20 bronze next time (same gauge) cause
they're supposed to be brighter.

I used to be a big fan of the Guild strings but they're hard
to find and they go dead really fast.

arent the phosphor bronze strings double the price? are they
really worth it?

the ones ive always favoured are 80/20 12-54s

look here and tell me what to get.

yesh. martin strings are nice. especially the steel/silk
core'd ones.. they work best on classical type guitars,
though.
but i think that it's got a better sound than most other
materials.. and definitely better than the usual platic-y
type ones that are usually on the higher strings of
classical guitars...

Double the price?! they're 50 cents more on that page.

According to the D'Addario site, the 80/20s are brighter
than the phosphor bronze so take that into consideration.

errr.. platic=plastic.. or vinyl or whatever the hell
cheap-sounding material they make them out of usually..

FWIW I use the D'Addario 10s on my electric as well. I don't
notice a huge difference between brands when it comes to
electric strings, though some people swear by Ernie Ball.

forthwith

8s? It's like playing cobwebs. With 10s you can dial in just
a little overdrive and the string does the talking, not the
amplifier. I think 9s and 8s don't resonate the body
strongly enough to produce much of a tone.

[next comes the debate over picks]

[and hairspray]

I use Ernie Ball 11 gauge on my electric. I pick too hard
to use thin strings. I tried getting this "hybrid" set that
had a 9 on the bottom and thicker ones going up, but I
played a show and broke three string :( It sucked, bad. 11
GAUGE TIL DEATH!!!!!

You can't play metallica with your fingers. Bloody hippy.
How are you going to chug the low E?

Get Elixer Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings... They cost
$15(US) but they are the longest lasting, most beautiful
sounding guitar strings I've ever used. I won't play with
anything else now that I've discovered these.
