that looks like non-sense. it sounds more like you make up a story to get attention, how can you 'spouting your mouth off' when you're typing? This is a forum, ofcourse you know what you're typing. you're not stupid, are you?
stupid.

I spouted my mouth off in the literal sense, remember I've not been using forums for that long and this happened a long time ago, I'm not making it up to get attention, otherwise my topic would have been "hey Autechre suck!" or something, I'm just wanting suggestions for music, which I'm very greatfull for
thanx to all who posted suggestions
anyway I've gotta go but I'll be back

"i also recommend: The Young Gods - Music For Artifical Clouds The Young Gods - Heaven Deconstruction"
> I used to be into these in my industrial days, saw them years ago, have they started doing more atmosperic stuff then?, I remember it being samples of old Motorhead riffs.
>> yes, their latest album (Music For Artificial Clouds) is definitely very different from anything else they did before... it is ambient/atmospheric =)
they already did a few ambient tracks, at the end of Only Heaven and Second Nature (two great albums by the way, who both are also very very different from their early stuff like L'Eau Rouge...), but this is different too...

I think they pinched Soundguy's music, called it incunabula, and then that's why none of their releases after that have been any good, because they're a sham built on theivery and lies. All bow down to the original Mr Autechre!!!

Arovane - Tides Woob-1194 FSOL-Lifeforms Polygon Window-SOSW Orbital-Insides Uziq-Tango n Vectif Vladislav Delay- Multilia Herrmann und Kleine- Our Sound astrobotnia - part 1 plug - drum 'n bass for papa chris clark - empty the bones of you ulrich shnauss - far away trains passing by sk/um - à águ fallsins
Ooooh! that felt good, great taste people BTW

Oh and on the Chris Clark topic, "Clarence Park" was one of my favourite records of that year but his new stuff leaves me a bit cold, I dunno, great sounds but a little short on tunes to these ears, though I love "Farewell Track" and "Gob Coitus".

wow! in a world seemingly consisting of Autechre fans I have finally found some solace XD
BTW I told one of your guys Mappatazee what happened with them privately by e-mail earlier, he's sworn to secrecy but hopefully he will kind of defend me on as to why I can't really talk about it on chat forums.
(even though that's exactly what I'm doing, it's the Autechre curse, you people were the first to mention them though, it's unavoidable)
Anyway gotta go but before I do I'd just like to mention a CD I bought the other day by Manual called The North Shore, imagine Ulrich Schnauss 's mixing desk with all the faders down but the pads and strings and your pretty close.
A Nice blissed out album for the Summer.

Yeah I love Claro and Casino, well the thing is I have heard a lot of music, I've been buying records for 17 years but short of listing my entire collection, which would be ridiculous, I just thought it better to list a few albums that I really, really love (and the ones I mentioned truly are my favourites, forgot to add Peter Benisch-waiting for Snow though)
and a couple of bands likewise. I did kind of indicate the sort of style I like (melody, atmosphere etc) as well so hopefully it wasn't too vague.
It's just that no matter how much music I get there's always more to be discovered which is one of the reasons I registered here.
and so far I'm a bit overwhelmed, I'm gonna be busy ordering records that's for sure.

I reckon it's time to move past melody in the conventional
sense.
that's not really a new concept, people have been saying that for ages and in the grand scheme of things melody is a relativly new thing, the first ever music didn't have melody.
I've studied my John Cage etc and can understand the whole non-melody thing but I've been listening to music for too long to to know that for one I love melody and for two any music that deliberatly avoids it for "innovations" sake is doing itself a great disservice.

I wasn't being serious actually. The concept of melody is pretty vague anyway. Melody is present in every musical structure. I guess complete randomness can't qualify as music because the human brain likes to observe patterns etc. I'm not sure how they are linked because I am completely oblivious to musical theory and the structure of the central neural system but certain algorithms of notes evoke certain "emotions" etc etc. I prefer organised sonic chaos for social reasons that go through a biochemical filter. The later music of autechre is full of extremely exotic rhythmical patters that make my brain intrigued by observing the evolution of patterns and fullfill my wishes as a sound lover with their dense sonic walls. What you wrote about melody not being there is wrong. Unless you have a specific definition of melody I'm not aware of. This whole topic has been done to death and I should expect to have my ass kicked in the near future by some forum members for reviving it.

I'm talking about melody in the sense of musical scales, sure all music has rhythm, melody is rhythm, but when distilled into scales it's different, remember the musical scales as we know them are the product of centuries of musical evolution and I find them beautiful because they make sense, it's all about the ratio between different frequencies, sure you can make your own scales, make your own ratios and that's valid but I personally would sooner listen to the evolved scales than the scales that some one has probably knocked up in about two days by detuning their syntheiser just so they can sound "post modern", it's just me, music is a very subjective thing after all, and I wouldn't say that all music has melody, Pansonic, Richie Hawtin,Microsonic stuff etc is pure sound and rhythm to these ears no real use of scales in any shape or form, though Hawtin does occasionally use the odd 3 chord one of course.
As far as the Autechre thing goes I did tell one guy last night what happened in the hope that he would kind of defend my reasons for not wanting to make it public, which he did earlier if u read the threads.
The threads will also show that I was not the one to bring Autechre up, they were brought up for me.
If this happens I have 3 options 1.Pretend I have never heard of them which would be stupid, and would also increase the chance of someone playing me their stuff, which I really don't want to happen.
2.Pretend I don't like the music and leave it at that, which would again be stupid and a lie, especially because my own tastes could be seen as consisiting of Autechre rip offs, in truth I haven't heard much of their stuff since Incanabula but it's harder too avoid than you think.
3.Be honest and say, hey guys it's not a problem with the music it's just something that happened to me years ago.
I normally go for option 3 because I don't like to lie, it's just too bad for me that I can't really go posting it all over the net, if I get to know any of you I'll tell you via e-mail but

i get your point soundguy, but there are some people here, like me, who care about who makes the music they listen to -and not just the music itself. i would boycott music made by a neo-nazi for example... or if the guys who made the music were total assholes, i'd rather just download it if i like it...

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike music that disregards musical scales, if it's done well then it can be great to listen to, but there is a time and place for it as far as I'm concerned,
and I've got a very fussy GF too, if I put something like Ryo Ikeda on she tickles me until I replace it with Bola or something like that.
